MAMA, Indian/Nepalese Restaurant — Restaurant in Osaka

Visited this restaurant again recently after leaving a 5-star review last month because I really enjoyed it before. Unfortunately, this time the experience was very disappointing.

I used to love this restaurant — the food was great when I visited a few years ago, so I brought my friends this time while traveling in Japan. Sadly, this turned out to be a terrible experience.

We arrived on May 30 at 8:00 PM with a group of 7. Three friends were running a bit late, so a few of us went in first and ordered drinks and one set meal while waiting. The staff responded rudely with “I’m busy” and walked away without helping us further.

When we tried to continue our order — choosing the curry flavors and drinks included in the set, and ordering more food — we had to call the staff back again. It was frustrating and felt like we were bothering them just by ordering.

At checkout, we were overcharged by about 2,000 yen. Even if all drinks were counted as individual orders, the total didn't make sense. When we questioned it, the staff literally said “I don’t have time” and threw 1,000 yen back at us. Completely unacceptable and disrespectful.

I have brought friends and family here before and was never treated with such attitude. I really want to understand if we did something wrong that caused the staff to misunderstand us.
