location: inside semba center building 3, B2 floor. both the store front and inside have a clean and airy look. the chef will gently prepare your ramen and leave you to consume your food in a calming atmosphere, without rush. fyi: we made a reservation via tablecheck for the kyoto duck salt soba & special miso soba. if you come during weekday lunchtime, you may not need a resy, but note some menu items can only be ordered in advance (anything with kyoto duck & grilled chicken thigh side dish). they will also prepare the cutest note and origami for you (if there’s a special occasion or you’re not local i think?) 🤍 food: sublime!! i’d definitely recommend trying at least one salt and one miso ramen as they are both incredibly flavorful and distinctly different. the salt broth will be lighter/cleaner out of the two, while the miso broth is rich and creamy, but doesn’t taste heavy! even though we came a little late trying to get from building 9 to 3 💀, we inhaled both bowls in no time!! the duck, pork, & egg were all cooked to perfection as well.
we immediately missed this meal once we left the restaurant, and would for sure come back the next time we...
Read moreI visited a ramen spot featured in the Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand section—and it was absolutely worth it! The restaurant is tucked away on the second basement floor (two levels down from street level), and fortunately, there was no queue when I arrived.
As is typical in Japan, you order from a vending machine outside—I chose menu option number 1. Just a note: you’re only allowed to take photos of the food, not the interior.
The ramen was outstanding. It came with a side of meat, rice, and a Yuzu Kosho topping. They suggest mixing the Yuzu Kosho into the broth, and the pairing is spot on. The broth is the real star of the dish—delicate yet deeply flavorful, made from a combination of three different stocks.
The noodles are handmade, and the pork was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The dish also included a beautifully soft-boiled egg from Miyazaki Prefecture, with a rich red yolk that added extra depth to the flavor.
All of this for just 1,590 yen—an incredible deal for such a high-quality meal. Truly a fantastic spot. Highly...
Read moreA incredibly refined, sophisticated experience at a humble price.
The uncompromising quality, generosity of portion and yet surprisingly practical, impressively efficient and just the right amount of convinient modernity.
The shio broth is so subtle tasting and yet unwaterlike it's a almost refreshing and refined experience. If you want flavor, the accompaning chazuke gives you the spark you may want. The water has no mineral flavor to it.
Generous amount of meat and tasty egg.
It may disappoint someone who want an intense soup flavor experience, but the flavor is so subtle and so harmonious that it's almost like a zen experience.
Great service, the old style of cash payment is a nice touch, the server and chef are highly efficient and the seating and information slip is elevates the experience.
It's a 5* experience and facility, an elegant yet not over the top, highyl refined accompaniment to the humble, modestly flavored shioramen. It's great value!
