I visited Maze Cafe Terrace at around 8:20am on Thursday and was the only customer. I had actually tried to visit their Kitahorie branch the day before, but it was full, so I was glad to get a seat this time.
I really love the design of the space – a mix of modern minimalism with a hint of Scandinavian influence. It feels stylish yet cosy, with plenty of natural light streaming in through the large windows.
I ordered the Maze Brunch Plate (¥1800) and a Brown Sugar Latte (¥650). The latte wasn’t sweet or bitter – just really well-balanced and smooth, very enjoyable.
The brunch plate was clearly cooked to order, with very fresh ingredients. Everything tasted clean and wholesome. There was very little to no seasoning on most components, which I imagine is the chef’s way of letting the natural flavours of the ingredients shine through. Read moreWe came here around 11:45 AM and the experience was disappointing from the start. No one brought us menus or even water for the longest time—we had to go up to the front desk near the entrance just to place our order. Service was extremely slow and inattentive. It took about 40–45 minutes just to get our food, and even getting water or coffee was a hassle.
The food wasn’t great either. The eggs benedict were bland—I’ve had much better elsewhere. We only ate because we were hungry, but by the time the food came, the mood was already low.
The only good thing they did was offer us an extra coffee/drink because the wait was so long—but even that didn’t make up for the overall poor experience. Definitely not somewhere...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this café! It’s a beautiful, clean space with a really relaxed, welcoming vibe—perfect for a chill morning or catching up with friends. The attention to detail in both the food and the space is clear. The coffee is high quality—smooth, rich, and clearly crafted with care. The French toast is absolutely insane—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and bursting with flavor. Truly next-level. The eggs were also great—super runny, which I personally love, but fair warning in case you prefer them more cooked (I’m sure the staff would be happy to adjust if you ask). Overall, just a lovely spot with great energy and even better food....
