During our first visit to Osaka, we searched for an Hiroshima Okonomiyaki restaurant nearby and found this hidden gem. Based on the great reviews, we decided to give it a try, and it turned out to be the perfect spot for a local experience!
When we arrived, the staff informed us that they could seat us, but only for two hours because a large party had reserved the space later. We appreciated their clear communication—using a translator to ensure we understood the situation—and their effort to accommodate us.
The restaurant was packed with locals, creating a vibrant, authentic atmosphere that felt like a popular spot for after-work drinks and casual hangouts. The vibe was warm and welcoming, with a few patrons enjoying drinks while chatting with friends.
They offered an English menu, which was helpful, although we noticed some slight differences from the Japanese menu. Still, the options were similar enough to make it easy to choose. We ordered the Tamaniku okonomiyaki along with a cold beer, and it was absolutely delicious. Sitting at the counter and watching the chef prepare the okonomiyaki right in front of us made the experience even more special.
The prices were very reasonable, and the combination of tasty food, cold beer, and a truly local vibe made this a highlight of our Osaka trip. Just keep in mind that the space is quite limited, so it’s a good idea to arrive early.
I’d definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and casual dining experience in Osaka. It’s a great place to enjoy delicious food and immerse yourself in the...
Read moreWe got back to our hotel late and spotted this small eatery across the road. We went in, and we were warmly greeted, even though there was a language barrier! The restaurant is humble but had such an authentic Japanese feel. Bench style seating with the hotplates right in front of us. We watched the chef prepare our meal. The restaurant specialises in okonimiyaki, and these were Kyoto style (even though we were in Osaka). They were delicious, the best I've had so far. We enjoyed them with a cold draft beer, surrounded by locals who were all happily chatting away. Prices very reasonable at around $9.50 (aud) per dish. If you want unpretentious and away from the main tourist strips, I highly recommend...
Read moreIf you are a foreigner, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere for a meal, this place does not appear to take a liking to foreign patrons. There are many other reviewers who also had the same experience of rude and unwelcoming service.
The cleanliness of the venue was well below average, with noticeable brown stains and spots throughout the walls and ceiling.
To the owner, if you don’t appreciate the patronage of foreigners and don’t want us in your restaurant, please warn us beforehand and we will take our business elsewhere to one of the many other restaurants who offer everyone the exceptional service that Japanese...
