New YC — Restaurant in Osaka

If I could give negative ratings, I could have made all items to this poorest cafe in the city of Osaka. It is the worst local coffee shop I visited in Umeda, Osaka, I must say, in terms of service, atmosphere, hygiene condition, etc. retro feel means nothing if it is dirty. My wife and I visited Japan quite often. We went to this cafe this morning hoping to enjoy a decent breakfast to start the day. Sadly the service we received ruined my mood and day. The breakfast service hour should be up to 10:00 am according to the cafe’s menu. We arrived at the cafe before 10:00 a.m. around 9:45 a.m. While there were empty tables inside, the young but poor manner lady server kept letting us and a couple in front of us wait at the door, seeing her tidying up the tables, checking the bills, serving coffee to diners. She had never greeted us in any way. We waited until about 10:05 am, seeing a male server took away the breakfast menu at the door. We were seated at around 10:10 am. We would like to place two sets of breakfast but the male server immediately rejected us and kept using his broken English saying No No No breakfast after 10:00 am, though he was exactly the one seeing us waiting outside for table before 10:00 am. It IS a tourist unfriendly cafe that tourists do not speak Japanese should not go. One word to describe it …....

Awesome drip coffee and egg sandwich! Unfortunately the whole place is smoking allowed, so reducing one star. A little detracting from the great food and atmosphere. Because of the smoking, it is kinda dirty, as others said, but I think ‘get over it’ it’s still a lot cleaner than most places in the world. Although I had to wait until 10 to order more than boiled egg set, and basic coffee, I waited. I found the service very nice, and they tried hard to communicate with me; I’m the foreigner who doesn’t speak THEIR language, right? It’s not their job to learn my language.
