I joined the queue from slightly before 7am this morning. Got the table slightly before 9.30am.
I ordered 2 bowls. One is their special kaisendon, and the other was their Honmaguro donburi. They ran out of their Chutoro donburi but extra 2 pieces worth JPY500 could be ordered as topping (a bit confusing -- seems like cheating almost).
There was one service staff with very poor sevice and very poor service attitude. Most of the customers are tourists from overseas, and this staff didn't speak well to us and other customers in the queue.
Our donburi was made and sat waiting on the counter for a few minutes because this staff was fiddling around outside with the queue line not organised to her OCD-ness, instead of cleaning and clearing the table that previous customers already left. It's poor operation management overall + very damaging to our experience from this staff's erratic and disrespectful behaviour.
I gave 3-star because Honmaguro-don and Chutoro were good (generally more superior than other typical Kaisendon restaurant), but you'd better spend your time in bed and find somewhere else nicer to eat.
Better scroll through reviews to see how many are saying that they'll repeat...
Read moreWe queued for an hour in the morning, and when it was finally our turn, a male staff member misunderstood and mistakenly wrote down that there was only one person in our party instead of three.
What made it worse was that when I tried to explain this to the female staff member who was arranging the seats, she glared at me angrily and raised her voice in Japanese, saying something like “only one person.” I repeatedly explained that I had told the male staff we were a group of three.
She was very angry, and throughout the entire process of being seated and ordering, she kept rolling her eyes at me in a very aggressive way. I can understand that she might have been angry, but it was not my fault.
In the end, I had to use a translation app to explain the situation again. I really hope that there can be mutual respect between customers and staff.
I didn’t expect to receive such service in Japan. I realize now I shouldn’t have held a stereotypical belief that everyone here would be polite and courteous.
The food was reasonably priced and matched the quality, but the service...
Read moreIt's supposed to be the best sushi and sashimi restaurant at this particular fish market. All products are prepared by the owner or husband looking elderly man, and the shop floor is managed and run by the elderly wife looking lady. Service is slow as expected with usually a wait to a table. The restaurant has a total capacity of about less than 20 including the bar, and tea is self service. The restaurant is small and slightly old, nothing fancy, feels like a family run restaurant, but way too busy to make the hospitality expected from a family restaurant. The food, can be seen by the picture are quite good but nothing exceptional compared to those at fish markets in Tokyo or Hokkaido. Sushi are created with standard quality. You might be better off venturing into the market itself there's some distinctively good stores offering freshly opened oysters, sea shells, fatty tuna from respective stores, fresher and an experience. Price are reasonable, slightly on the high side given the portion (sashimi rice bow is relatively...
