Cozy little bakery/cafe type place with a good choice of amazingly yummy pancakes from sweet to savoury and plenty of other options to choose from. I would recommend the choc chip pancakes which come with a little tub of syrup, they were excellent. The prices are a little on the high side but I would say it's worth it. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Service was very fast. Definitely a must-go-to place :)
Small edit: we went back to this place a second time before leaving Osaka and they had a waiting list this time round. They made us stand out in the scorching hot sunshine whilst we were waiting for a seat. They didn't even offer us a drink of water! Also a pregnant woman came and was asked to wait outside too without a chair. This really shocked me. The place is not very big but they could have at least provided water and some kind of seating maybe. Anyway once we were inside, it took over 0.5h to get some water and then about 40 minutes extra to get served. It was busy though so I can understand. However, I ordered the cheese omelet and when it came there was bacon and mushrooms in it which were not on the menu. Being a veggie, I was a bit disappointed about this but didn't want to wait another 40 minutes, so took out the meat and put it aside. The omelet was not very good and was watery, very different from the experience I'd had with...
Read moreWe found the place through google maps and reviews. It was easy to locate, we went for an early lunch.
Like many other reviewers, yes there was queue, however there was only a couple ahead of us…still we waited for 30-40 min. The frustrating part was probably the customers that were only sitting for a long duration long after finishing their meal, it felt abit rude considering the queue buildup behind us.
Eventually we got seated, really just a few tables. The waitress was kind, quick and spoke adequate english. We ordered a regular hamburger, fries and milkshake, got served quickly.
The atmosphere and architecture is going for this typical american style, playing american music.
The hamburger was alright but really average. The milkshake was really nice. We payed by card, easy.
It seams to be an establishment which many locals and foreigners prefer. It could probably do even better if they somehow managed the queue abit better - perhaps reminding customers that finished a long time ago - that there are other people in line too (?)
In overall, it...
Read moreGreat food, old-school decor, relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, affordably fair prices alongside a nice choice of background music! We ordered a few different items from their menu and we loved everything. Burgers were juicy, tasty, nicely seasoned, well-balanced and had the option of fries or salad on the side. Pancakes were fresh, tasty and the fruit and cream proportion was just right. The sandwich was freshly-made and toasted and the classic milkshake was a delicious cold treat in the wild heat of hot Osaka summers. One interesting and funny thing I noticed was how popular the place was among women. When we were eating, all the customers and staff in the place were women and not even one single man was in sight (except us of course). I almost felt like that I had wrongly stepped into a woman-only cafe if that's a thing! Overall, I really enjoyed eating at West Wood Bakers and will definitely come back again for more...
