小樽おり鮨 — Restaurant in Otaru

This restaurant is located near the Otaru canal cruise reception within 5min walk.

It was lucky for us to keep a table for dinner without booking. It seemed full of bookings of Sushi counter that is in front of the master.

We had Omakase, that is today's master's choice, with 15 nigiris and 1 small bowl with salmon roe and something I haven't had. Every portion is well prepared and fresh and so no fishy smell at all. The llace is not big the owner is the chef and the wife is doing other services such as seving food and welcome guests etc.

It quite difficult for foreigners to order the food but the restuarant has English menu which has quite limited lists of food.

I had sushi set of 13 and my wife ordered grilled fish. The taste of both were pretty good while the price is just slightly higher than the tourist...

Had the most amazing omakase set menu here. The seafood was so fresh, and each dish was so good I almost teared up (lol). The uni and chutoro tuna were especially good. Wonderful and friendly service as well. It was pouring outside when I finished my meal so they very kindly gave me an umbrella.
