This wasn't on my list to visit but seeing it so busy piqued my interest. I have no regrets. It was fascinating watching the employees make the fish cakes in the factory - you can tell they were experienced based on the speed and skill on display. The fish cakes were super yummy - and this is coming from someone who is picky about their fish cake! I had the original one and the limited time maitake fish cake. Both were delicious. Highly recommend!!

As visitors to Otaru we were looking for a place to sit and enjoy a coffee. We found this place. Staff did not speak English so we indicated we wanted white coffee and received 2 cups of basic coffee which was appreciated. We also bought a pork roll from the display. It was greasy but tasty. A large range of fish cakes and various related products, souvenirs and kitch items. Coffee cost around 320yen each.

We bought fish cake and tried them at the outlet. The fish cake was on the sweet side, especially the classic one. The store rightly put a disclaimer that its a little sweet but we found it to be too sweet to eat by itself (would have been good to incorporate this into a dish). There also wasnt many table at the outlet for those looking to snack on fish cake.

definitely a must try in otaru! really nice fishcakes, soft and tasty, lots of different flavours too. thrs a clean toilet for a break and u can also see the factory production floor through a viewing area. there is also a reasonable amount of spacious seating to rest the legs. good to plan this during the afternoon for a break. really really awesome fishcakes

A factory cum retail store cum cafe. You get to see the fish cake production and at the same time to buy back the chilled fish cake home (if you are local). For tourists, well we can buy and eat them on the spot. Wide variety to choose from at affordable price. Great for snacking while taking a break from walking around Otaru.
