LeTAO Chocola — Restaurant in Otaru

This place has the world's second best chocolate cake called "Sylvie". I've had plenty of chocolate cake in my life and my absolute favorite is from Lisbon at Santini but this is very very good. yes the ones from French patisseries are also good like Jean Paul Hevin but this might be even better with the different layors of chocolate mousse and cream filling. We couldn't resist the huge poster and bought one frozen cake to take home but realized we have to make another trip to Otaru so I can buy more. It is not too sweet but sweet enough, not too chocolatety but chocolatey enough, the texture is perfect and the cream is heavenly. Compared to Jean Paul Hevin it is slightly on the sweeter side. After driving 3 hours to Otaru, I bought 3 cakes to be shipped to me and took home one. I shared a tiny bit with my kids and they kept talking about it for days. My youngest had one tiny bite and pushed his plate forward to ask for more already. It is soo sooooo good. It's just the perfect size for about 4 pieces for us, 6 if it is japanese size but honestly I could probably eat the entire cake in one sitting. Yum. Btw letao validates parking for every 2000 yen at the lot when you turn right at the post...

The staff were nice and helpful. I did find the ice cream to be a bit buttery. Unfortunately the grape chocolate cannot be brought around while traveling so i was unable to buy it and bring it home. They were giving out...

4년 전에 일본 드라마 '실연 쇼콜라티에'를 본 뒤로 수제 초콜릿을 정말 좋아하게됐거든요. 비싸지만 그 정성이 담긴 아름다운 맛에 한국에서도 가끔 찾아가는데, 이번에 홋카이도를 가게 되면서 르타오 쇼콜라에 꼭 가보고 싶었습니다. 르타오 쇼콜라 때문에 오타루에 왔다고 해도 과언이 아닐 정도로 기대했는데 역시 명성에 걸맞게 정말 맛있었어요.

제가 갔을 땐 오전 10시 전이여서 그런가 손님이 한 팀 계셨습니다. 덕분에 편하게 고르고 바로 구매할 수 있었네요. 눈길에 미끄러져 종이가방이 찢어진 바람에 오후에 다시 찾아갔는데 그 때는 사람이 엄청 많았어요. 직원분과 소통하며 시음도 해보고 편하게 쇼핑하실 분은 일찍 가시면 좋을 것 같아요.

저는 3~4가지 정도 시음 해봤는데 다 좋았어요. 여행 예산이 부족해서 가볍게 85000원 어치 정도만 구매했는데 다음에 올 기회 생기면 더 사고싶네요 정말 ㅠㅠ 수제 초콜릿은 최고에요!!

또 일본답게 직원분들은 역시 엄청 친절합니다! 특히 저한테 시음 도와주신 분은 선물이라도 드리고 싶네요 :)
