We ordered the double fromage, chocolate cake and the beef omurice.
The double fromage is what LeTAO is known for, so we had to try it. The cake tasted amazing, tasting pleasantly of sweet cream cheese. The texture was incredible too - smooth and creamy, while still being very fluffy. highly recommend this dish, even for those who do not like cheesecake.
The chocolate cake was very tasty as well. The chocolate cake was denser than the double fromage, and has a richer chocolate taste. This is recommended for those craving something more decadent. The cake was topped with a very tart raspberry sauce that balanced out the sweetness of the chocolate cake well.
The omurice was surprisingly delicious, as we had low expectations ordering savoury food from a shop known for their desserts. The omurice sauce was very beefy and rich, and the beef chunks were very tender. The rice was cooked well, and each grain was covered in a tasty sauce. The omelette was fluffy and went well with the rice. Children will enjoy this dish. The reason this gets a 5 star rating is because my daughter loves the omurice and was her favourite dish during the whole...
Read moreWe visited LeTAO PATHOS while strolling through Otaru, and it was everything a dessert lover could hope for. Located along the lively Sakaimachi Street, this spacious flagship outlet offered not only their famous sweets but also a relaxing café space to enjoy them right on the spot.
Of course, we couldn’t miss trying their signature Double Fromage Cheesecake—soft, creamy, and absolutely melt-in-your-mouth. We also tried a few of their other pastries and chocolates, and every bite delivered rich flavor without being overly sweet. The presentation was elegant, and you could really taste the quality.
Upstairs, the café was cozy and comfortable, with big windows overlooking the charming streets below. It was the perfect spot to rest and indulge after walking around Otaru. Staff were friendly and helpful, offering suggestions and even samples before we made our purchases.
This wasn’t just a dessert stop—it was a highlight of our Otaru visit. If you’re in town, don’t leave without stopping by LeTAO PATHOS. You’ll walk out with full bags and...
Read moreLeTAO Double fromage cheese cake instantly became my favourite dessert shop in Hokkaido and is rated Japan’s no.1 cheesecake. So what’s so good about it? It’s super light, not too sweet, smooth and melts in your mouth every bite. I guess the secret to the success of this beautiful creamy dessert is the contribution of Hokkaido milk and cream. Unlike any other country I’ve been too their dairy product is world class. The only negative I have is size & price. The full size cheesecake is about 12cmm and will cost you over ¥3000, while one slice will cost you ¥410. Other things they sell include Hokkaido cheese tart ¥350, milk pudding, ice-cream, bread, chocolates and cream cheese langue de chat which I did not personally like compare to the better shiroi koibito langue de chat white Chocolate cookies. The thing I love about japan is there’s plenty of stores that hand you free samplers as you walk into the store, so if you can’t afford one just buy once slice and keep tasting the samplers by the end the trip you will be more...
