[An Honest Singapore Girl Review]
First, we would like to thank the Chef and the Waitress for the lovely dinner we had. This is our 6th night in Hokkaido and this probably concludes the best meal we had.
Coming from Singapore, we have ate all the good food from all countries. This however is life changing. Let’s start with the atmosphere... we love the unpretentious, unassuming look of the dinner place. The music was soft, the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. The dining capacity is 8 pax maximum, so great peaceful way to start the meal and end the day.
Then we come to the service. Tax free dinner and flat rate as shown on the menu. Based on this, we are already won over by the restaurant. When we entered, we were shown to our seats and offered by the waitress to put our bag on one of the seats as it was not crowded yet. Both crew were smiley and great host. We couldn’t speak a word of Japanese and they couldn’t speak English well. So we communicated using Google translate because we really know what we were eating... it gave us a sense of authenticity to the food we ordered.
FOOD ABSOLUTELY 5-star service and food!
No complains. We love the 11-course Chef Specials designed by the Chef. We love every ingredient and watching him slice the meat every time and mound the sushi rice. We love the final touches he adds to the sushi and the hygiene level Japanese food industry brought about.
👑👑👑The Champion dish...? drums rolls (or known as Spot Shrimp)!!! Absolutely our favourite, both me and partner. The meat is fresh, the meat is big, the brains and intestines of the shrimp is removed and marinated with special sauce before added back on TOP of the rice with some wasabi shrimp roe. SHRIMP ROE!!! A rare delicacy!!!! Yums!!!
Another dish which ties, is the Uni. However at the price point of 5000yen, I think you cannot get any better in Singapore or any parts of the world.
I have attached the menu for your reference. PS. I really really really love the simplicity and layout of the menu. Very clear. Hope you guys will enjoy it as much as we...
Read moreI was able to make a reservation through Google text, which was quite convenient unlike many other sushi places. They took only one group per one time slot and served excellent foods and attentive care. Sushi was very well prepared. Although not top-notch, I believe the best imaginable for the price. No super exotic expensive fish but really well thought through sequence, and the balance was exquisite. The tuna handroll was especially impressive - so perfectly prepared (roasting doneness, thickness, flavor, texture, etc.) nori, just right amount of superb rice, and just delicious tuna. So basic but so well done. This place is really down to the basic of how sushi has to be made. All in all, what a great experience for such a steal price! Much appreciation to the chef and...
Read moreThe master may seem blunt, but you can feel his kindness as you talk to him. Every time he serves sushi, he tells you the name of the fish in both Japanese and English, which is quite funny. The taste of the food is impeccable. You can feel the craftsman's touch in the knife and the hand holding the sushi, and you can feel how much effort the master put into everything from the freshness of the ingredients to the seaweed used on the negidoro. I recommend ordering the omakase and eating it, and then ordering additional menus that you liked. You can make a reservation through DM on Instagram, so I recommend stopping by when you go to Otaru. It was the most satisfying meal I...
