AN-AN — Restaurant in Shizuoka

I can give them more stars if I could. Best pizza house ever. I heard that this place was established since 1960s, and the building & interior shouts out the Showa era very much. Run by an old man who doesn’t seem that friendly but is actually quite sweet if you greet him. The capacity is not much, probably fits 7 table with 2-4 people in each table. Not much space to walk between tables so you have to be careful. Retro vibes and antique collections spread all over the shop. They play piano jazz in the background. When we got there for dinner, we were the only person there (because of the incoming typhoon), but I heard he got a lot of take out orders from the phone.

Surprisingly, the pizza was also fantastic. I can taste the 60-years of hard work and recipe here. We ordered tomato&cheese and anchovy&cheese&p-man. Fresh, sweet, and abundant tomato, cheese that melts, perfectly baked dough.

If I were in Shizuoka again, I would definitely come back here. It was otherworldly...

This is almost certainly the best pizza in Shizuoka City. I haven't been to all the pizza places yet, so I can't say it definitively. But personally it's the best pizza I've had in Japan. They go a bit heavier on the cheese than may strictly be necessary, but that isn't exactly the worst problem to have. Pizzas are also a flat price, so choosing a pizza with 3 toppings, or the mix with a sampling of many toppings, is no issue. A personal pizza is about ¥950. The menu is simple, but also in English. 40年前はデートスポットだった場所が時を経てディープスポットになった店。 隠れ家的な店がマジの隠れ家になり、現在では秘境の穴倉。 映えをあざ笑うかのような、放ったらかしの店外の蔦と店内のアンティーク。 パーソナルスペースそれってなんですかの席。 いつの間にかやっと備え付けられたナプキン。 無造作に置かれたタバスコ。

アメリカの刑務所から出てきた高倉健が、刑務所前のこの店でビールとピザを頼んで、両手でビールを震えながら飲み干した後、一心不乱にピザを食らっているシーンを山田洋二監督が撮影していても違和感ありません。

以下感想。 ビールは瓶、しかも大瓶。 ピザはミックス除いてサイズ別一律料金。 サラミでもサラミ＋オニオンでもサラミ＋オニオン＋ピーマンでも一律料金。 ベーコン＋オニオン＋ピーマンとビールを注文。 まずは瓶ビール大とグラスがのんびりと出てきます。 当然おつまみとかの気の利いたものはありません。 で、ビールを飲みながらピザを待つこと15分。 ああ、旨そう。 右手にフォークを持ってピザの中央をすくい、左手でピザの耳を支え、口に運ぶ。 ざっくり。 ああ、旨い。 厚での生地なのに口当たりはクリスピーなそれ。 薄切りを束のままカットしてそっけなく置いたベーコン美味し。 オニオンのほんのちょっとの甘みと、ピーマンのほんのちょっとの苦みと、チーズのコクがたまらん。 咀嚼後にビールを流し込む。 美味し。 味変はそっけなくテーブルに置かれたタバスコのみ。 かけるとそれとなく酸味がプラス。 うめえなあ。 ということでビール2本とSピザ1枚で2700円。 ほろ酔い気分で帰途...
