飛騨米屋食事処 — Restaurant in Takayama

I have been to Japan quite a number of times, and ate at various establishments and I have never experienced such a rude service ever as the one my family and I received here. The owner is better off putting a sign outside saying 'no foreigners/babies allowed'. I went to this place around dinner time. 6:30pm.

What happened *'the person' here refers to the one I have been inte With my very basic skills in Japanese I tried my best to communicate with him our order, the person chose to remember order by memory and double checked with me many times my order and still got it wrong. While telling the person my order, he scoffed at me. I don't know why When giving the bill to me, he just threw it on my table. I handed over the bill with my two hands and the cashier just snatched it with one hand. He then snatched the money right after. The tone of the person serving us was always with frustration. Everytime a non Japanese group enters the restaurant, the tone of the person greeting them is always rude, but if it was a Japanese, he was polite.(I saw about 7 groups of locals and foreigners enter) Lastly on our way out, the person serving us, just kept going 'money? Money? Money?', without checking with his counterpart that we have already paid.

The food is good though, but I think the service made the entire experience very very bad. There are better restaurants in Takayama and I would encourage potential hungry people to avoid this place in order to have an...

I visited 3 years ago and had heavily leave miso bbq hida beef here. I visit again with high hope only to be seriously disappointed. Beef is lean (thats not wagyuly, not to say “a4 and up” mentioned in the menu). Without the fat, there’s nothing to counter the solid flavor of miso, and thus throws the whole flavor of the dish totally off balance. Besides quality of the beef, quantity is also cut. Used to be 1.5cm cubes but now only 1cm and some 0.5cm slices. That changes the meat to miso ratio and that is also kill the flavor balance as well. Sad to see a private shop undergoing that kind of quality cliff jumping. Not coming here...

They are specialized in Hida Beef, the menu is limited but what u get is SO TASTY, we had to order one more!

i've notice other review saying the service was rude, but while the waiter wasn't smiling at the beginning, he has very warm at the end of the dinner :) he also knew couple of words of english to explain how to do sukiyaki and yakiniku.
