Halal Ramen Review: Mixed Beef and Chicken Ramen

I recently tried a halal ramen dish with a mix of beef and chicken, and it was a flavorful and satisfying experience. Here’s my take on it:

Broth

The broth was the star of the dish. It was rich, savory, and perfectly balanced, with a depth of flavor that comes from slow-cooked ingredients. The blend of beef and chicken brought a unique taste—heartier than traditional chicken broth but not as heavy as a purely beef-based one. It had just the right amount of seasoning, with a hint of soy and garlic, making each sip warm and comforting.

Noodles

The noodles were cooked to perfection—slightly firm and springy, just as they should be. They soaked up the flavors of the broth without becoming mushy, creating a delightful texture with every bite.

Toppings

The toppings were fresh and added great variety to the dish. The beef slices were tender and juicy, while the chicken pieces were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The addition of soft-boiled eggs, green onions, and seaweed complemented the dish well, providing a mix of textures and tastes.

Halal Assurance

Knowing that the ramen was halal made the experience even better. It’s great to have an authentic ramen option that adheres to dietary guidelines, allowing more people to enjoy this comfort food without any concerns.

Overall Experience

This halal beef and chicken ramen was a hearty and satisfying meal. The combination of flavors in the broth, the quality of the noodles, and the generous, fresh toppings made it a standout dish. It’s a perfect choice for anyone looking for a flavorful halal ramen experience.

Would I order it...

During Golden Week when we visited Akihabara, We came across “Sankyu Halal Japanese Food” on Google and it took us around 9-10 mins from Akihabara Electric Town, by foot. This restaurant is located in a quiet place away from all the bustle. As you enter, you are greeted by friendly staff. For those who think communication in Japanese would be a problem, you needn’t worry at all because the staff can speak English!

We were greeted by steaming gyoza (beef dumplings) and hot colorful bowls of spicy chicken ramen. This being my first authentic Japanese Ramen experience, I absolutely loved it! The elegant presentation, the flavorful broth, the juicy chicken, the perfectly cooked noodles, the balance of saltiness and spice just left me craving for more! The ramen bowl is hearty and satisfying to the very last bite.

For those who love less spice and subtle flavors, Gyoza is for you, accompanied by a hot chilli sauce, the tender juicy dumplings are a treat indeed! Wish it had a little more spicy touch to it though.

Overall, Sankyu Halal Japanese Food makes a perfect spot for Ramen with friends or family. I am definitely coming back to taste their Fried Chicken Ramen...

How this place is so highly rated I'll never understand. The gyoza is disgusting, dripping with oil. The chicken ramen is disgusting, smells fishy and is so incredibly salty and slimey. The quality of the meat was awful, it was so fatty which isn't typical for chicken and didn't taste much like chicken. I'm now really questioning what this meat was.

Staff aren't very focused, they keep forgetting parts of the order. When paying (this place is well overpriced for what it is) I noticed the kitchen is very unsanitary with the "chicken" just left on the side and eaten chicken/bones in a bag above this chicken/cooking area, which certainly caused a sinking feeling in my stomach. Should I get food poisoning I'll at least know the most likely culprit. Utterly disgusting and a total lack of care for food hygiene. I suppose I should be glad I could eat so little of what we ordered. The Arabic couple on the table next to us were also complaining about the same things.

For one of the few halal options, this is worse than...

I was sincerely excited to come try the ramen here since it is rated so highly on Google. Unfortunately, I was severely disappointed in the food. The beef ramen bowl was 1550 yen, almost double what most ramen shops charge in the area. I figured, it must be worth it, expecting something spectacular. It ended up being a boring yet expensive bowl of ramen. The non-spicy broth resembled the flavor of instant ramen flavor packet. 2 thin pieces of beef were chewy almost like rubber. The noodles were very soft. The egg was okay though. I am sincerely confused and surprised to why my dish was this way. I felt like I was being pranked. Regardless of the price, I am bewildered to why this place is rated so highly when serving such an underwhelming ramen dish. The waitress was friendly and seemed happy to be working. The atmosphere was clean. Thank you for the service.
