The family was headed back to our hotel to freshen up before heading out to dinner when we walked by this place. My wife and daughter wanted to grab a Macha (in the opposite direction of our hotel), so I said that I would grab a beer here while they went on their quest.
When I first walked in, the vibe just felt off to me - not very authentic and not very... customer focused. They have a patio like area that looked comfortable and airy, but a person I assumed was a waiter directed me to a place further inside and isolated. When he did not in fact wait on me (which was fine - I have been to bars before), I thought f-this, I am going to sit where I want. It was at this point that I looked at the tap beer selection, and it is shite, except for the Guinness of course, but what could I do?my family was going to meet me here.
At that moment my other daughter joined me, because "I had the wifi device 🤣. We picked a table in the open air area, and I went to the bar to get a beer. That was when the bartender asked me for her ID. I replied that she was my daughter, 16yo, and not drinking. He told me she couldn't stay. So we left.
Maybe it is not their fault, but Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen let my daughters in, and I highly recommend that place. Not sure why we could get service at Craft Beer Scissors and Kitchen, and not at this place. Again, maybe they are just following the rules, but I will say that the bad vibes and shite beer selection, except the Guinness of course, still warrant the 2 stars - at best.
BTW this was just before 5 in the afternoon. It was not like it was crowded with a bunch of...
Read moreThis is a nice pub with plenty of food and drinks. They also have a selection of nice whiskys and prices are reasonable. Just order and pay at the counter and wait for your drinks/food. The staff is very friendly and also good in English. Smoking is also allowed, which could be a plus or minus for different people. I enjoyed my time there and I think they are doing a great job. I would recommend it to everyone and also...
Read morePlace definitely captured the English pub vibe, serving amounts for the food though were quite minimal for the prices, yet the food was still tasty and well presented. I guess novelty was reason for increased price?
Another example of a pub imitating western culture but missing the mark by being unable to speak a single English word, considering this is one place foreigners may look to come to feel more assimilated to...
