I spent one week in the Hotel Grand Bach Tokyo Ginza, and I had an amazing stay. I booked a Double Room B for one person, and it surpassed my expectations.
Check in was very smooth. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and knew English so we were able to communicate well. All of the staff in the hotel throughout my stay were very polite and courteous. I didn't have many queries, but there was always someone on the front desk if I did.
The room I'd booked was quite large, and felt like a suite. It had a small entry area with a sink, a wardrobe, and a chest of drawers. There was then a bathroom with a shower and a large bathtub, a separate toilet room with a high-tech toilet, and the main bedroom/living area with a big double bed, desk area, more storage, a minifridge, TV, and a sofa. There is also a sliding door between the entrance area and the bedroom, which makes the room feel like a suite. The room was modern and stylish; with the wood giving it a warm feeling. The window had automatic blinds, including a blackout blind that kept all light out. Plus my room on the 13th floor was very quiet. I couldn't even hear the hustle and bustle of Tokyo outside. The bed was so comfortable, and I slept so well.
The room comes with so many amenities too. My room had bodywash, shampoo, conditioner, face creams, bath salts, toothbrushes, combs, shaving razors, a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board, a clothes spray, a shoehorn and brush, glasses, a bottle opener, and more. Plus they gave me two free bottles of water every day, and refilled them every day regardless of whether I'd put them in the minifridge or by the side of my bed.
Electronics-wise, the room has a universal plug socket near the TV and multiple Japanese and USB plug sockets. I found the USB plug by the bed to be a bit temperamental, but the plugs were in all the right places. The TV is very large, and you can watch local Japanese TV or streaming services like Netflix. Next to the bed is a panel where you can turn the lights on or off, as well as closing or opening the blinds. There is also a panel by the door where you can set the room to 'do not disturb' or 'please make up the room'. The minifridge wasn't very cold, but after leaving the water in there overnight it would be nice and cool for the next day.
The hotel is in a great location in Ginza. Just around the block is the Kabuki-za theatre, with Higashi-Ginza station underneath. There's also Ginza station which is only a short walk away. Both stations provide great connections to places like Shibuya, Shinjuku, Asakusa, Akihabara, etc. If you like shopping and luxury brands, you'll love Ginza. There are a lot of malls and designer shops around the area. There were also a lot of restaurants in the area, but the nightlife is quieter. If you're looking for an upmarket area with a nice quiet nightlife, Ginza is perfect.
There were some negatives, but they were negligible; for example my room didn't have a view, and stared into the hotel next door. However if you've ever stayed in a hotel in any high-rise city like Tokyo or New York, you'll know how common this is. It probably helped by keeping out the sound. The room did have some wear and tear, but any hotel will have that and it was barely noticeable. The only annoying thing was that the extractor fans would go throughout the night, but they weren't too loud and the screen door would cover the sound.
Overall, I had an amazing stay in the Hotel Grand Bach Ginza. I would 100% come back again in the future, and would recommend the...
Read moreGrand Bach was a huge disappointment for us and we do regret staying there, but fortunately not everything was bad. We stayed for a week. I'll start with good.
-Front desk staff was amazing. Super helpful whenever we needed anything. Check in and check out was smooth. And the welcoming felt good. Thank you Tanaka for doing an amazing job.
-Hotel room design was amazing. Spacious and well designed. Toliet and shower space was separated and there's a divider for the bedroom space. Bed was soft.
-Hotel is able to keep your luggage after check out and before checking in which is an amazing perk.
The Bad. Cleaning staff is either overworked or needs retraining. We had an incident where our toliet was covered with pee stains which did not belong to us. The shower room also smelled of strong sewage to the point that it was usable and we had to have a room change without any compensation to this inconvenience.
The new room itself wasn't clean either. Leftover medicine and tissue on the floor with ice cream in the fridge. Cups were not clean either. Everyday amenities would be missing. Either pajamas, coffee refill, facial wash. I had to call front desk for the missing items ever night. That and the toliets werent cleaned either after the room change. The purifier extremely filthy you'll have to clean it yourself first and refill it yourself daily if you wish to use it.
-Aircon is sometimes wonky. Sometimes it's not cold at all unsure of why. Issue occurred in both rooms.
-Not much of a view maybe this depends on room type.
-Front desk does take some time to reply emails in regards to answering questions or enquiries. Sometimes you'll have to email them twice for an answer but they will reply a few days or weeks after that. Do contact them earlier if you have any questions.
For 50,000 yen a night I think cleaning should be improved greatly. It was not worth the price at all. And the inconvenience in regards due to the cleaning did cost us to miss dinnee in terms of a dinner reservation as we had to change rooms due to the smell. If all you need is alot of space and you're not too fussed about a clean...
Read moreAmazing hotel!! It has far exceeded my expectations. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful. The hotel feels top of the line and everything is so clean and beautiful. There is an elevator to go up one floor to reception and then another secured elevator to the rooms. Your room card needs to be swiped in the elevator and it automatically takes you to the right floor- so nice! The beds are firm but so comfy! The shower is the best thing on earth with great water pressure. There is a separate room for the toilet with a small sink and another room with a sink, vanity, walk in shower and deep tub. The automatic shades and blackout shade is so good and convenient. We had a room facing the street on the 12th floor. A little noisy but not too distracting. The shades down help drown it out. We stayed in room 1201 and It’s a beautiful view. If we were to return, we would stay here again!
This is a prime location within walking distance to food, shopping (both casual and high end shops like LV), and trains/subways.
There are several USB plug ins, plus standard 2 prong chargers and a bigger plug option on the desk that I was unfamiliar with being from the US.
TV has streaming options so you can log in
Bathroom is stocked on with everything you’d need. They even include pajamas and slippers! Staff is so nice!! They even helped me book a van to return to the airport because I had too much luggage for the train. They didn’t charge for that service either. There were times where we forgot the room key so we couldn’t even access the elevator, but staff were so kind to make another key. Check in and out was a breeze.
There’s a button to have your room cleaned or for do not disturb. We only had our room cleaned 3 times during the stay and each time we were left with water bottles for each of us and the bathroom toiletries restocked. It was so nice. The lobby is beautiful, the rooms are even better. Everything is so classy and sleek. Staff spoke Japanese and English, so there were no issues with any requests. They were honestly so kind...
