Alport Caffè - Nihombashi — Restaurant in Tokyo

My husband was hankering for s simple capellini al pomodoro. So we searched for an Italian pasta place that was open mid-afternoon in the Ginza district, where we were staying. We thought we’d look at the restaurants in Takashimaya. We’re so glad we found this one. Their capellini al pomodoro hit the spot for him, he said. The tomatoes had just the right amount of natural sweetness. They did not overpower with garlic or too much cheese. It was well balanced. I chose to try their seafood ragu type pasta with some zucchini added (see photo). This too was a well balanced pasta but with a powerful punch of umami. Again, it was not too garlicky and they did not drown the dish with cheese. Perfecto! After visiting Pokémon center, I decided to try Italian restaurant in the department store. The staff were polite but not so friendly. Feels like super expensive French or something than Italian restaurant. Inside was like they just build this space so quick, no decoration, no colors and I don’t recall hearing music either. Salads was ok. Hope they mixed dressing with veggies. It was too much dressing on the top but no dressing at the bottom. Taste was ok. I ordered mushroom pasta. Ordered their course A + top-up to an Uni pasta and a Pizza Margherita — both were delicious! The former was creamy without being overly rich, and I could taste the “sea” with each bite — umami! The latter was light, with a perfect balance of cheese and tomato. Prosciutto with persimmon stood out in their appetiser and both their panna cotta and butter pound cake for dessert were great.
