My husband was hankering for s simple capellini al pomodoro. So we searched for an Italian pasta place that was open mid-afternoon in the Ginza district, where we were staying. We thought we’d look at the restaurants in Takashimaya. We’re so glad we found this one. Their capellini al pomodoro hit the spot for him, he said. The tomatoes had just the right amount of natural sweetness. They did not overpower with garlic or too much cheese. It was well balanced. I chose to try their seafood ragu type pasta with some zucchini added (see photo). This too was a well balanced pasta but with a powerful punch of umami. There are so many other restaurants to enjoy in the...

The former was creamy without being overly rich, and I could taste the “sea” with each bite — umami! The latter was light, with a perfect balance of cheese and tomato. Prosciutto with persimmon stood out in their appetiser and both their panna cotta and butter pound cake for dessert were great. This was our second choice restaurant as the queue for our first was crazy long. Glad to have...
