AUX BACCHANALES KIOICHO — Restaurant in Tokyo

I’ve been to Aux Bacchanales with my girlfriend 3 times at this point and we have enjoyed it immensely every time.

We are always warmly greeted by the gentleman at the door and our waiters are similarly courteous. The restaurant is plenty large and I certainly enjoy the French decor.

We have tried a variety of the menus options but I particularly enjoy the steak and fries. It’s a solid, no mess around choice that I found to be delicious and beautifully cooked and seasoned.

That said, it is the Crème Brûlée that keeps us coming back. The taste and texture is exquisite and hits us both as some near divine experience. It certainly satisfies our sweet tooth’s in all its sugary glory.

The one gripe I might have is the price. I don’t go to enough French restaurants to say whether or not this is value for money, but perhaps it is. At the very least it has proven to be a good enough lunch and dinner date spot that my girlfriend would like to invite her mother for lunch some time in the near future. That is high...

Aux Bacchanales is a family restaurant disguised as a French cafe, serving overpriced, bland kids meals. And you don’t even get a toy. The last time I went here the omelette I ordered arrived in a puddle of raw egg, served next to an assortment of pathetic iceberg offcuts; the fRiTés were cold, chalky, unsalted, and lazily dumped on a plate; the quiche Lorraine was similarly disappointing, and had the texture of warm jelly. Prior to that I have memories of a steak so tough it won the knife fight, and of a croque madame that looked like a thawed grilled cheese that the chef got on sale at the nearby 7/11. They have a bistro cafe located right in front of Shimizudani Park in Kioicho. After stopping at the government office in Nagatacho, we took some time to relax in the atmosphere of a Parisian bistro along the road, instead of grabbing a coffee inside our accommodation next to them in Otani.
