Kioi Nadaman — Restaurant in Tokyo

I was lucky enough to marry the girl of my dreams. I was even more lucky to meet the most amazing grandmother who introduced me to this amazing experience.

It was a humid, rainy day in Tokyo when I went, not ideal weather to eat tempura; however I was told by my wife that this was one of the best tempura experiences in Tokyo. She was right. Everything about this place was perfect. As a mentioned earlier, it was humid, rainy and long day in Tokyo; all I needed was a few cold beers and I’d be happy. The waitress elegantly served me the most delicious fresh beer I could’ve imagined.

Then the food experience: I was open to trying anything on the menu, I was lucky enough to try the seasonal menu which was specially crafted just for our family. Each time the tempura came out the master gave me a look with a slight smile as if to say “I know you’ll enjoy this one” each time his smile got bigger and bigger, as did mine when I kept trying there most amazing tempura combinations.

The master was an artist, the way he used his hands over the hot oil, the way he placed the tempura on the plate, the way he described how to eat the tempura with a touch of salt or lemon was impeccable. Can you imagine the time and training involved in becoming such a master of this craft?

There are only a few times you can whiteness greatness in a lifetime, I was lucky enough to have a front row seat watching a master at his craft. I will always come back here, but will never forget my first time...

Hay dos conceptos sobre la cocina Kaiseki:

1. La que va ligada a la ceremonia del té japonesa, que consiste en varios platos ligeros, suaves, equilibrados para acompañar el té.
2. Y la que va relacionada con el Arte culinario japonés: y consiste en una comida tradicional japonesa que mezcla sensaciones visuales y gustativas para narrar una ubicación y una temporalidad a través de los alimentos servidos.

Si vais a Japón, tenéis que probar esta experiencia gastronómica.
