We ordered the Special Beef Tongue, Rib Roast, Boneless Short Rib, and the Salt Soup but the first two take the trophy. The Rib Roast is like butter, super good value and amazing quality, high recommended. While the Special Beef Tongue is thicker than my usual liking but still tender and very filling.

Boneless Short Rib was too fatty though so don't recommend it.

Amazing service as well, there are English speaking staff. Pro top: ask for the lemon juice and salt for your beef especially the tongue! (They wouldnt give it to you if you dont ask.. we only know that when we saw the sign recommending it)

Don't forget to ask if you can get a free drink if you do a review on Google.

Shoutout to the clean toilet as well!

Update 2nd time here on 10/10/25: Beef Tongue and Rib Roast were chef's kiss. We came a little later this time (around 5.45pm) without reservation on a Friday night, and there was already a queue. We had to wait around 15 minutes, which is definitely doable! Line moved faster...

I've been coming to Ueno for more than a decade and saw many turnovers of restaurants. This quaint corner Yakiniku shop had been here all this time with a long dinner queue. This evening, I braved the queue and gave them a try. No reservations, a short 20 minutes queue at 5pm ahead of the dinner crowd. I made my order of premium A5 Wagyu beef, tongue, assortments of pork and sides. For three medium eaters, we had our maximum fill with no room for desserts. Portions were good and service prompt. QR code ordering and the staff are foreigner friendly. In fact the tables around us are all foreigners. Truth be told, I had better Wagyu. But for the price and portion offered, this is great value for money. No frills, comfortable Izakaya atmosphere. And of course good draft beer in large cold mugs. The steak cubes were amazing—tender and flavorful! It was our favorite dish and the one we highly recommend. We decided to try this place after seeing many good reviews and made a reservation via Google Maps a day in advance. Luckily, there was still a table available for our group of four.

We went in the evening, and the restaurant was quite packed, with a long queue outside. I recommend booking in advance, which is easy to do through Google Maps. The restaurant has two floors but is relatively small, with a moderate number of tables.

Service was okay, nothing exceptional. Ordering was simple via a QR code on the table, and the food arrived quickly. Other dishes we tried were just average—the kimchi was okay, and other meat cuts were decent. There was only one type of dipping sauce.
