We came to Chop Coffee 2 weeks ago. There were 2 customers when we arrived and they were leaving when we were about to order.
When we were about to order, I told my Mum to go sit down as she was very sore from her arthritis but one of the staff said loudly in Japanese that we had to order before sitting down. This is understandable if this is your cafe's rule. We're more than happy to follow it even though your cafe was empty.
The staff knew we weren't fluent Japanese speakers, and kept asking questions really quickly. We struggled a bit but we got there in the end.
The coffee was nice but the iced tea had an 'artificial' taste.
When we finished our coffee and tea, we decided to bring it in so the tables were clean for the next customers. When we handed it to the staff, she just grabbed it without even acknowledging us.
I understand everywhere in Japan is crowded with tourist and maybe you had many bad customers. We actually tried to be good customers but your staff were absolutely rude and unwelcoming.
As a fellow cafe owner, you should be ashamed. We won't be back and we don't recommend anyone to come to this cafe if this is how you treat...
Read moreI like the vibe and coffee at this place but when I went last night (Jan. 9th), I was extremely disappointed at the employeeâs attitude.
She handed me the two drinks I ordered without mentioning which was which, so I had to ask. She simply pointed at the drink with her finger. She never once smiled at us and the customers that arrived after, so I initially thought she mightâve been just tired. However, when her Japanese male friends arrived, she suddenly became friendly and loud. She shifted back to her cold and rude attitude whenever she had to deal with customers and then went back to being lively when talking with her friends. I thought that was really really weird.
This was my second visit, and will also be my last. Itâs a shame because I thought Iâve found a cafe Iâd keep going back to, but I wonât anymore after...

Nestled away down Cat Street, Chop Coffee is a charming little coffee shop with a lot of personality. We tried several coffee places during our week in the city, but Chop Coffee ended up high as one of the best we had. The coffee is extremely flavorful, and the place has more variety to their menu compared to many other cafes. For these reasons, it's very worth the price. The staff were very friendly and helpful as well. My one pro tip would be to visit during their less busy hours. The interior is small, and there's not a lot of seating. Enjoying the coffee inside just adds to the experience. Really want to...
