Devi Corner, at a walkable distance from Shinagawa railway station on the Takanawa side, is a superb Indian restaurant that will surely drive away homesickness. Managed by Mr Negi, who is equally fluent in Japanese as he is with Hindi, the warmth and attention to detail is outstanding.
I visit Tokyo regularly and make it a point to have my dinner at Devi Corner. They take care to cater to vegetarians, but I hear that the non-veg preparation is also awesome.
I love the cleanliness and the great hospitality- Mr Negi and the team is one reason why I don’t go anywhere else. The location is also suitable to anyone staying at The Prince group of hotels. I’ve tried various other Indian restaurants in Ginza and near Shinjuku, but those aren’t anywhere close to the quality and authentic Indian taste that Devi Corner offers. Apart from the food, the team is a great sounding board for things to do in Tokyo - they will tell you where to see the best sights and get the best deals.
So if you are an Indian in Tokyo and want to have authentic Indian food, do make your way to Devi Corner -...
Read moreWe landed from India late Sunday night and post check in we visited Devi. We were welcomed with warmth even though the restaurant was about to close. Its has been a week now in Japan and trust me we close our eyes and go to Devi for dinner every day. This is one of my top 10 favourite restaurants. Along with serving absolutely delicious food, they have a wide variety as well. In all of my visits to this restaurant, they make amazing North Indian cuisine and their Biryani's are super delish!
Negi San is a gem and the way he take care of his guest is amazing. He never gets tried and his chefs do a wonderful job.
Although the decor is so whimsical and true indian with great Indian music, I feel it could get a bit congested, especially during the weekends. But this honestly has no bearing on my dining experience as the food and service make up for it 10 fold. Trust me its a treat to every Indian as we get the best Indian food.
To summarize :
Food-5/5 Service- 5/5 Decor- 4/5 Value...
Read moreI went there with a big group of friends on the 2nd of January for dinner. The staff there were so helpful just the level of service alone was worth the money we paid. There were 17 of us and and they diligently took down each order and accommodated each one of our individual requests and did not say no to anything. On top of that, they lavishly served us with free drinks (beer and lassi) and kept on insisting to give us more food because they appreciated us coming at a time where the entire 2nd floor was empty. I had a samosa which does not sound like much but the one served at Devi's was enough to fill me up till the end of the day. If you go there with a friend, just order one and ask them to cut it into half if you intend to have it as an appetizer. I washed down everything with one of their delicious lassis. I'll definitely be going back...
