Came here three times now. My first two times was great.I would have given a five star if it wasnt for my terrible experience when I went for my third time. I booked a reservation online for just seats with a party of five at 15:00pm for some coffee/dessert. I arrived and was told that because I made a reservation i could only sit inside even though there were seats on the terrace open and that- that comment should have been made clear to me when I made the booking over the phone. I explained to her that I didnt make the booking over the phone and it was over the internet so I was not clear that we could not sit on the terrace.
When it was time to order, I was told that we couldnt order just desserts/coffee in the restaurant. If I wanted to just eat dessert we would have to sit in a different space which was on the terrace. So here I am thinking, so we can move to the terrace afterall. Without any direction, we picked up all of our belongings and moved to the terrace only to find out it was a free seating zone which the waitress didn't explain to us at all. There were no seats available. We ended up moving to the restaurant next door. The reservation system is very complicated and how is there a rule that you cannot just order "desserts" when its on the menu???? I dont see that anywhere on...
Read moreWe enjoyed a memorable meal at Eataly Harajuku to celebrate the birthday of my husband, who once used to live in Italy.
Feeling tired of Japanese-style Italian food after years of living in Japan, we wanted to dine at a more authentic Italian restaurant, and we found that in Eataly.
We ordered the Tagliata Course and the Chef's Tasting Menu Ligurian Course, and all dishes were wonderfully delicious. We were impressed with the "Orata alla Ligure," pan-seared sea bream that was surprisingly rich in flavor. My husband also remarked that Eataly has the best tiramisu in Tokyo so far.
We were served by a kind and hardworking staff member who always greeted us with a smile. He was fluent in both Japanese and English. Being greeted happy birthday by all the waiters when they served our dessert plate was a nice touch.
One thing to note is that they don't serve big or generous portions of pasta—like Olive Garden or even Yomenya Goemon—because primi is meant to be eaten with antipasto and/or secondi plus dolce to make a full meal, as you would in Italy.
Also, their full glass pane windows and outdoor terrace made for a fine view. We would love to come...
Read morenever happened in my entire life to be rejected in a restaurant. i booked a table for 2 for saturday night checked everywhere on their site for dog banned in their store nothing found even at the entrance of their store no signal about it. around 5pm we decided to go there to check they allowed us to stay on a terrace the dog closed in a stroller few people around, they gave us menu we were ordering while someone noticed the dog and tell to staff to communicate us to leave because the building doesn’t accept dogs. funny fact we stayed in the building in uniqlo and other stores nobody told us anything so now i want to know if this would happen to a japanese people too.
