Listen here: G’s Jazz bar was the highlight of our Tokyo trip! My fiancé and I were visiting Tokyo for the 2nd time from Los Angeles and had some of the best nights ever here—thanks to the incredible owner, Taku. Going into local bars are pretty intimidating as a foreigner but Taku made us feel incredibly welcomed during our first visit. He invited us to come the following night for a live jazz performance and saved us the best seats in the house. The performers were incredible! The acoustics and the sound system are also incredible. During our second night here, he played one of my favorite albums, Chet Baker’s “Chet Baker Sings” throughout the night, and believe me, that feeling was amaaaaazing—I stopped my self from crying. Taku and his waitress are some of the most wonderful people you’ll ever meet on this earth. They show their customers nothing but love and respect. I’m not too familiar with cocktails, but he provides an elegant menu that’s descriptive and eases the ordering process. Taku will happily give you recommendations and give you background context about which drinks pair well with certain Japanese foods. I also appreciated the love and care he takes into making each drink—it’s so clear he loves what he does! Outside of drinks, he’ll chat with you about anything, especially jazz! From the service to the ambience to the music to the location, everything was perfect about this place. I had both a mojito and a cuba libre which taste to perfection. I can’t thank Taku and his waitress enough for the amazing time we had here. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Thank you, Taku, for not only accepting us into your amazing jazz bar but for blessing us with a night we’ll forever remember. If you ever visit Tokyo, or are a fan of jazz, please spend a night out at G’s bar and visit our amazing friend, Taku. You’ll fall in love with G’s Bar—it’s a hidden gem. Performing live here is now at the top of my bucket-list. We can’t wait to...
Read moreChilled, welcoming, safe for solo women. Good food, amazing drinks at reasonable prices. Great musicians, a crowd that loves live music & jazz fusion. The owner (Takuya Tada)Tada-San, is the perfect gentleman, passionate about great service and jazz. I had dinner alone, don't speak Japanese, but was welcomed warmly, had personalised non-alcoholic mocktails and felt totally at ease. Had the natto fried rice - delicious. Music by ABC (Akasaka Blues Circus) was freaking awesome - tight jamming, solos within songs, covers ranging from old school, Nina Simone, D'Angelo, R&B, swing, Latin jazz, funk to pop. Music is fusion and genres mean nothing to these pros. They just love good music. And the cover charge is a donation. So donate well! This place deserves much love from music lovers. If you love Live music that has soul and verve, head here for musos and a crowd...
Read moreOne of the best experiences I've ever had. First, the proprietor is incredibly welcoming, speaks (and writes) excellent English, and is great fun. The bar is small and cosy, no seating charge but you are asked to tip the band what you think is fair. We had delicious cocktails while enjoying the front seat to an incredible 3 piece live band. Again, the band was so welcoming, going to an extra effort to include us non-Japanese speakers, having photos with us, and the music was incredible. We also got some excellent recommendations for food around the Akasaka area, i wish we'd found this place on our first night. Also make sure you ask him for the house special cocktail. Thanks to the owners and the band for an...
