I looked specifically for Thai massage on my trip to Tokyo. Sounds odd maybe but I don’t have time to go to Thailand and I figured there might be some skilled therapists who have migrated. I found the Erawan website prior to making the journey but waited until I was in Tokyo to book. I was able to book 3 hrs of treatment (the jet lag package that includes reflexology, Thai massage, oil massage and head/neck massage) the day before without issue.
I chose the Akasaka facility as it was a 15 min walk from my hotel. It’s in a small building close to the world of wizardry in case you want to get your Harry Potter on in the same trip. The facility is small but comfortable.
My therapist, Aom, was very kind, professional and skilled. She also was able to communicate very well in English. Despite the treatment being broken up into different types/specific parts of the body, they all incorporated Thai stretching. Some of the stretches were intense and pushed my limbs further than they are used to going but you just breathe into it and let your body relax and move as it should. The treatment was awesome and I really felt like I was in a new body afterwards. I wish I had access to the same type of treatment at an affordable price where I live - I think it would be good to do at least once a month.
I highly recommend and would definitely return to Erawan and...
Read moreFirst time visiting this spot with my hubby yesterday for a date night out and it was absolutely amazing! This was his second visit and he'd been wanting to take me but we finally got a babysitter to watch our little ones. When I first walked in, I felt like I'd been transported to Thailand and I was at ease. They welcomed me with herbal lavender tea and warm hand towels. The seating area is nice and relaxing and warm lighting. We opted for the 90 minute Thai massage in adjoining rooms. I enjoyed every moment of it. They asked us not if there were particular areas we wanted to focus on and I mentioned my lower back and legs and arms. We were so relaxed and were actually able to nap during the session-- which surprised me!
These women know exactly what they are doing and are experts at their techniques. My therapist's name was Juliette and woman who worked on my husband, her name was On. We give them both strong recommendations. We will like to visit once a month if possible with our busy schedules. If you are a person who enjoys Yoga, like I do-- you will greatly benefit from a Thai massage here. It is in walking distance and easy to access in Tokyo. It is across the street from the Harry Potter cafe. I will return and I felt amazing the next day and had the best sleep through the...
Read moreHidden away on the 7th floor of an unassuming building is the Akasaka branch of Erawan Thai Massage. This is a wonderful place to visit for some recovery and relaxation. From the time you arrive you are greeted with a clean, fragranced environment and very friendly Thai massage therapists that are always quick to make you feel comfortable. Post the welcome drink, you'll have a chance to select an oil aroma (if you are getting the Thai Oil massage which I always get) and then be shown to your own room where you can get changed into supplied under garments and settle into the quiet atmosphere. The service quality and professionalism shown has always been great and the therapist that I regularly get Thai Oil massages from (Luna) is outstanding. Not only is she capable of unwinding those spots that really need attention, she approaches her work with sensitivity, awareness and heart. Coupled with a very pleasant demeanor, I can't help recommending her when people ask and find myself requesting her availability whenever I schedule a visit. On balance, Erawan at Akasaka provides a great massage experience, operates in both English and Japanese, and is reasonably priced for the quality of service. It is certainly worth trying if you are in the vicinity and after a short escape from the...
