Whenever I read interviews with Japanese musicians or attended their Q&A panels when they visited conventions, I often heard them mention Akasaka BLITZ as a favorite venue. Usually, it was because it was their first one or just because they liked the atmosphere.

While studying abroad in Japan, I was really excited to finally get to go to a concert at Akasaka BLITZ. Now I understand why so many musicians like this venue. The sound quality/acoustics are amazing. When the vocalist of Matenrou Opera dropped the microphone during his powerful solo, I could hear him clearly, even though I was about 3/4 back! In addition, this venue has so many amazing effects--lighting, fog, even a bit of pyrotechnics! I was able to see three different groups here: Matenrou Opera, Kiyoharu, and LM.C.

While I was in Japan, I went to twelve concerts in total. I can now say that Akasaka BLITZ is among my favorite...

Prestigious venue that lives up to its name. You must pay for a 500yen drink voucher upon entry. This is a great sounding venue with a great audio and lighting rig and you can tell everything is exceptionally well maintained and focused with great detail. Washrooms were also cleaner than my own house washroom even after the show was done which is something you would never see in small/medium venues in North America. Impressive.
