It was definitely a cool experience, as an animal lover I know these animals wish they were elsewhere but we came to experience an animal café in Japan. The AC was broken in the hallway but the place where the animals were kept was much nicer in temperature, which was a relief. They don't mention the pygmy monkey in any of their advertising and you can't hold it, we were the only ones giving him attention so he didn't feel so left out! The meerkats were definitely cute but they had 5 of us pass one around and by the time we all held it you could tell it was getting overwhelmed and needed to go back into its enclosure eventhough they had many others being held right before us. Overall it was cute but I'm glad we don't have these all over the world because it is hard to see after a while and knowing that they should have better and bigger enclosures if they are going to be such a popular business in Japan. The capybara had passed away a while ago and is still all over the advertising for their zoo so I do hope they...
Read moreThe animals are kept in a very artificial and unnatural environment with bright lights and plastic everywhere, nowhere for them to burrow or enact their instincts. When I visited, the ferrets were sleeping but the girl just yanked them out and shook them roughly to get dust off them before handing them to me and the other visitors. The ferret just slept in my lap, clearly they’re used to being manhandled when they need to sleep. So I decided to move to the meerkats, when I was holding one and then suddenly some started fighting in their cage. The meerkat I was holding saw this and scratched my arms and ran across the table to try and get inside. The girl handed it back to me, completely ignoring what was causing the issue. The entire business just felt so unethical and careless for the animals’ well-being. It seemed like they were just throwing the animals around to make money without considering the animals’...
