Overrated and underwhelming.

When in harajuku, one must get the craziest and most selfie-worthy treats as possible! These were my exact thoughts when I passed by Angels Heart and instantly craved a crepe. After perusing their menu, it looked rather delicious. I had just gone to Long, Longer, Longest but didn’t care about adding a few more calories in my system!

The prices weren’t incredibly terrible. I had paid for more expensive ones in LA and OC so I figured I might as well try it. The presentation itself is great and you can definitely agree after looking at the photos, but once you take a bite you know exactly why nobody else was really buying it...

The crepe was cold, for starters. At first I wondered how they were able to make my crepe so quickly. When I received it cold I realized that they make it in advance and then just prep it with whatever ingredients you ordered. Bummer. After taking another bite, I was expecting to be surprised with a lot of flavor. Instead, I got a mouth full of whipped cream. So much so that the majority of the crepe was like this so I actually never ended up finishing it.

I was so disappointed because I was expecting more. If you’re into having thinly sliced crepe and a massive amount of whipped cream then this place is for you. If not, I’d highly suggest putting your precious yen towards something...

Santa monica crepes is a sham! The displays show delicious looking crepes full of fruit whipped cream and other ingredients. Though what you get is not so. I chose the strawberries and cookies 'n' cream cheesecake option, number 111.

In the display it is ladent with strawberries and whipped cream drizzled with chocolate sauce with a slice of cheesecake in the middle. But what i got was just a dissapointment, it had only 3 strawberries which were from a can and a tiny cube of cheesecake on the top that wasn't even cookies 'n' cream! And the rest was whipped cream which wasn't much because I took 4 bites from bottom to top before I got to the cream and I take big bites!

To sum it up it was mostly whipped cream and not that much cream only about 3 or 4 heaped table spoons.

Not worth the money! Go to the one in Akihabara it had icecream and fresh strawberries! At least...

Tried Santa Monica Crepes in Harajuku — it was my first time trying crepes in Japan, so I don’t have a local benchmark to compare to (though it’s not my first trip here). I ordered the banana crepe with chocolate sauce and custard cream. Flavours were decent, but the crepe was cold and a bit soggy — I was expecting something warm and slightly crisp, so the texture was a bit of a letdown.

That said, I didn’t go out of my way for it — just happened to be in the area — and it did make for a very Instagram-worthy shot 📸✨

Bonus points for the little things: they provide a trash bin for customers (a rare convenience in Japan!), and order numbers were called out in English, which was a nice touch for non-Japanese speakers.

Cute spot and worth trying once if you're in the area, especially for the novelty, but I’m not sure I’d queue...

Hygiene warning. 衛生的ではない!!! Do not get fooled by the queue. Trust me, dont waste time queuing. I was one of those, who saw a long queue, and felt this must be a hidden gem. Queued for an hour in the cold, got a crepe, and is 80% whipped cream. Very greasy. (Which aligned with most of the reviews) More importantly is the Hygiene. I saw the guy, the only guy who work there, he uses his rubber gloves to handle all the money, mostly coins on his palm. Without exchanging a new glove, he just went make crepe. Been observing for 15minutes at least, same. Sometimes he does put hand sanitizer on the rubber glove, but still disgusting. Please bear in mind, how much touching is involved to make a crepe. So it is basically us, licking the coins while eating the crepe skin. Totally disgusting and unacceptable.
