It was a very unpleasant and disappointing experience.

Firstly, the exhaust hood did not function efficiently, with the smoke not being absorbed well and properly.

Secondly, they had made a major mistake, which is similar to a previous google review 1 month ago. This made me doubt whether this was a genuine mistake. I had ordered a small serving of beef to try, with me specifically highlighting the small serving TWICE. The waiter had nodded his head and placed our order. However, when the bill came, we were charged the price of the bigger serving and they had served us the bigger serving without asking us. The bill which was supposed to be ¥5900 had increased to ¥8800. However, we did not know that we were served the bigger serving till we recieved the bill. They insisted that we had told the waiter that we wanted the big serving. Being infuriated over their dishonesty, I requested to see their manager. It took them 5 minutes to find their manager in such a small shop. After a long debate, with them insisting that we ordered the big serving, they finally gave in and charged us appropriately for the beef, after I showed them the review made by another person. Even after the incident, they did not apologize to us over the mistake.

The meat was out of the world good!! Service can be elevated. Didn’t get any dipping sauce for the seafood order. The seafood items were not the best yet they are fresh but just a bit off. The beef was SO delicious. 🥩👍🏻

Side dishes and salad came with the bibimbap but they were not good. Didn’t get any dessert either. The soda was watery — these can be improved for sure — absolutely no need to ask if people need Chinese menu. Just bring them both. It sounded off-putting except the restaurant intended to do so which isn’t good practice in hospitality — SERVICE CAN BE BETTER, except if people don’t want to get bothered, then it’s all good. Again no dipping sauces, side dishes and desserts was very weird.

Would get more grill beef items for sure next visit. Good price for the quality...

Heijoen was happy surprise after surprise to me. I loved every moment eating here and it was the best meal I've had after spending 6 days in Japan. I wasn't expecting to see the Gundam from my table, so that was really cool. The wait staff were friendly and accommodating. A few spoke English as well. The food was amazing. I loved the beef stew and reminded me of the kind of korean Jjigae you get from a mom and pop shop. The banchan for the meal, bean sprouts and kimchi were some of the best I've had. The meat was also glorious. I was more of a fan of the leaner cut I ordered extra, but the chicken thigh, pork belly and Wagyu Kalbi on the lunch set were very delicious.
