I was shocked how much better a specialty highball place can make highballs. Whiskey quality aside, the ice, soda and garnish are perfectly balanced here, and they take it very seriously (as you'd expect in Japan). I saw one new bartender measuring the ratio of whiskey:water with a ruler! You'll never look at soda, ice, whiskey and lemon the same again. Personally, I enjoy the "Nostalgic" highballs, using Suntory Old, Royal and Reserve whiskies, but they have dozens to try.

I love their all-you-can-eat snacks (nuts and senbei) with table charge, and their real food isn't bad either. If you're in the area, this place is a must try if you like highballs, or...

One young gentlemen behind the counter tried to charge me 2 drinks instead of one. The other staff fixed it after they noticed that I pulled out my phone to recalculate. Not sure whether that is intentional practice or not. The drink was alright but a bitter aftertaste from the experience...

Best Whiskey highball ever! They makes their own soda for the highball and give a choice of whiskey to use. I always try to visit whenever I come to Tokyo and I recommend their original standard highball which uses Macallan. (I tried with other whiskeys like Ardbeg but it...

2024.05.31 初訪問。 新橋店オリジナルの新橋ハイボールをオーダー🥃 半熟玉子のスコッチエッグ(ハーフ)と、コマネチをつまみにしていただきました。 10年ほど前に仙台旅行をした折に、国分町で知り合った現地の方に杜の都店を紹介してもらったことをきっかけに、ハイボールバー1923のファンになりました。 それまで飲んできたハイボールとは全然違う味わいと、他店には無いフードのバリエーションや美味しさがお気に入りです。 以来、旅行や出張など機会がある度に、仙台・京都・広島・博多の店舗にお邪魔し、それぞれの店舗のオリジナルハイボールを飲むのを楽しんでいます。 新橋1923は初訪問でしたのでとても楽しみにしていましたが、期待しすぎてしまったのか、それまで感じていた感動はありませんでした。 美味しいことは美味しいんですが、普通に近い美味しさと言うか。 フードも、どうせなら今まで食べたことがないものをと考え注文しましたが、コマネチは食べにくい上に味はそれほどでもなく、もう頼むことはないかも…。 新橋ハイボールは試しにもう一杯飲んでみましたが、一杯目と同じ感想でした。 他に白州森香るハイボールと、ボウモア15年のロックをいただき、山崎生チョコレートで締めてお会計。 価格は良心的だと思います。 フードはナポリタンを筆頭に量が多いメニューがあるため、1人だとあまり食べられません。 店内は加熱式たばこを含め禁煙です。 路上喫煙禁止エリアだからか、店舗の外でも吸えず、新橋駅前のSL広場にある喫煙所まで行かないと吸えないため、喫煙者にはなかなか厳しい条件です。 週末・金曜日だったこの日は17:30を過ぎたあたりから続々とお客さんが詰めかけ、店を後にした18:30には満席でしたので人気店のようです。 ナポリタンやレーズンバターを食べれなかったことが心残りなのでまた行きたいと思いますが、看板メニューの新橋ハイボールだけは何か改良していただけると嬉しいな…。 ごちそうさまでした。

Best Highball Bar in town. Great choice of whisky, bartenders can be friendly even with foreigner. Drinks are very well made and atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I will go again for sure.

Best Highball Bar in town. Great choice of whisky, bartenders can be friendly even with foreigner. Drinks are very well made and atmosphere is warm and welcoming. I will go again for sure.
