Abysmal meal - I’ve had better sushi in the states (multiple states).
The sushi chef was clearly in training. He spent the majority of our omakase coughing and laughing (?) at the guests. When we first sat down he asked if we wanted to add anything. We asked to add today’s nigiri fish (pointing to the line item on the menu) and he instantly got completely confused. Why did you ask us if we wanted to make an addition and then we point to an addition and it not make sense? What’s the point? We ended up not getting anything extra and we’re glad we didn’t.
First piece of sushi had hair in it (not kidding) and my partner couldn’t physically chew the clam it was so tough. The only roll we got was so clumsily large it would be shameful to most sushi chefs and the miso soup was deeply, deeply bitter. Honestly, disgusting and tough to eat.
The shrimp wasn’t fully deveined and there was so much wasabi on some of the nigiri that the fish couldn’t even be tasted.
Avoid this place! I hope the Michelin folks are looking at these - lots of others were great but this was a complete stinker. Doesn’t deserve to be mentioned and we had better at the...
Read moreAlthough I’m a foreigner, I’ve had many great Omakase experiences in the United States. I understand this one is priced lower, so I’ve lowered my expectations, but the quality still falls short. As someone mentioned in the review, the fish isn’t cut or presented well, and the flavor is bland. The way they present the nigiri doesn’t highlight the unique flavors of different fish, so each nigiri tastes similar. I’m also not sure if this is common in Omakase here in Japan, but they slightly seared the otoro, which surprised me because for otoro, I expect to experience the fatiness and how the fat melts in my mouth. The part I’m most disappointed about is that my sushi fell apart. But I think the most important thing for a sushi chef is to make great rice. The service is also quite inconsistent. My water bottle is often not refilled on time, and I’m not sure if it’s because they’re trying to achieve a high...
Read moreWonderful sushi experience! A very young and dynamic local crowd. We came in as a group of 3 and were placed at the end of the counter, it was very weird for me because one of the seats was on the same side as the chefs.
The food was amazing, very modern taste but just right. It is a nice experience and different from the typical traditional omakase.
The service was a bit … loose? No checking if our drinks were running out, not asking if we want desserts after the course was finished. We asked them to help call us a taxi and they told us to go out and look for one ourselves (LOL) luckily our chef went out to flag one for us herself. We were very thankful. I guess they catered more toward the younger crowd hence a more casual service style?
Anyway, overall a great experience! The price is also very reasonable and worth it. Will come back again if we are ever...
