La Sfoglina — Restaurant in Tokyo

WARNING:

I'm not one to write reviews unless there's a reason. As a foreigner living in Japan, it's not always the most welcoming. Unfortunately, this place takes advantage of foreigners. When we arrived, the server brought over two glasses of water and a pitcher of water that they placed on our table. We each ordered a pasta dish and my partner ordered a cocktail.

When we received the bill, we noticed a 1000 yen charge on our bill for mineral water (it was written in Japanese and mind you, the cocktail we ordered only cost 800 yen). As we were studying the bill, the waiter came over to ask if there were any problems. Before I could even say anything, he immediately said, "oh, I will cancel." It seemed as if it had all been coordinated. I have no problem paying for what we ordered, but unwittingly charging people for things they didn't order is unethical. And I can't help to think that a foreigner that couldn't read Japanese would've paid it and moved on.

To top it off, the food was bland and I would strongly suggest finding a different place to dine. There are much better Italian...

Absolutely lovely experience! We came on a weekday, so the place was pleasantly quiet, almost like a private escape. Everything was just chef’s kiss from start to finish: the food, the ambience, the service, top-notch!

We tried several dishes and honestly, everything we ordered was delicious. But if I had to pick a favorite, that truffle pasta stole my heart. Creamy, fragrant, rich; but not overwhelming. I could eat that every week and still crave more.

Definitely planning to come back. A gem...

Took my girl friend out to dinner Friday night. I love all the choices on the menu from the appetizers, entrees, drinks, and the deserts. All the pasta dishes seemed so delicious. I love the dim lighting & atmosphere. We got a salad and chicken dish for the appetizers, champagne and truffle sauce pasta, she got a mimosa, and I got the pear juice. We had such a good dinner, and the food was delicious and fresh. The price was good for two people, and service was great. I would come back to try...
