This is a great dim sum place if you can’t make it to Yokohama Chinatown! Authentic tasting, it has a decent selection of dim sum with normal sized portions and quality food. I wish they had hk egg tarts with cookie pastry.
I especially enjoyed the char sui pies with the flaky outer pastry and the xo mochi turnip cakes! The century egg congee comes with chicken shreds, roast peanuts, crunchies and a sprinkling of scallions.
My only part negative is that I thought the ha cheung skin wasn’t perfectly glutinous and was a touch closer to average - but that’s my only gripe.
It might be a bit on the pricier side for most, but it’s hard to find this level of authenticity in Tokyo. I’ll...
Read moreA restaurant where you can taste authentic Hong Kong dim sum.🥟 It is located in a residential area within a few minutes' walk from both Yoyogi and Minami Shinjuku stations. It is a popular restaurant, but it does not have many seats and does not accept reservations, so you may have to wait in line during lunch time. If you don't like waiting in line, it is recommended to come as soon as the restaurant opens. All the dishes are really delicious. Each dish is small, so even if you order several items, you can enjoy them with plenty of room in your stomach.✨✨ I recommend everyone to try the dim sum at this restaurant. Read moreNot sure how this place got such high reviews - I can only chalk it up to the sparsity of good dim sum options in Tokyo. The dining experience here was highly disappointing. The century egg congee was shockingly bland and lacking flavor (I‘be actually made better versions with my instant pot just following an online recipe). Even adding hot sauce didn’t help much. The beef 腸粉 also had a weird aftertaste. Everything else we ordered was fine but nothing special, just your average standard quality har gow, turnip cake, etc that you buy frozen and steam back up.
The customer service was poor and lacked logic. We ordered a bunch of dishes and it was crowding up the entirety of our little 2x3 ft table that we barely had any space to eat comfortably. Yet they refused to expand our space to the twin table sitting empty adjacent to ours, insisting that because we were a party of only two, we can only occupy a 2x3 ft table. (There were many empty tables and whole other empty room during this time btw.)
Overall, I was not impressed with the experience and food. It’s a shame because I’ve been on the search of an authentic dim sum alternative to Tim Ho Wan that could be a regular joint for me (I’m a big dim sum fiend). Sadly I won’t be coming back to this place.
