Staying nearby and checking out places for dinner. Most restaurants on Google maps had all the menus in Japanese only and we were intimidated by that. We found this spot nearby and figured that English would be easily understood in an Indian restaurant. It was. The restaurant is off the main roads by a block or so in a non-descript neighborhood but it was only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. There are about 6 or 7 tables inside. A family of about 8 was already seated and ordering when we arrived. The proprietor welcomed us in. We reviewed the menu (pictures and labels) and ordered Chicken curry with steamed rice (B) and Butter Chicken curry with Basmati rice (H). B also ordered beer and some garlic Nan. The food took a while as it is prepared fresh and we arrived after the family. The cooks (2-3 of them) all had on the old style folding white hats on. Quaint. The food was delicious and the garlic Nan serving was quite generous and the beer was cold. Nirvana! Two English speaking business men came in who are regulars and vouched for the good food here. Read moreThe sauces are so rich and flavorful!!! These people really know how to make awesome sauces. I had keema, butter chicken, and whatever the sauce that comes with momos is. Each of these puts your mouth through a journey. After finishing my momos (which were incredible), I kept eating the momo sauce on its own because it's way too good.
It's also interesting that the food is so good because the place looks rather dinky (which isn't a bad thing - I like dinky). The restaurant is small and unassuming so the food will surprise you. The chicken in the butter chicken curry is tender and you can really feel the smokiness on it (which was a really cool surprise).
Expect to spend anywhere between 1100 and 2000 yen.
I definitely recommend the momos but I'm a momo guy. You'll be happy with anything you order (I had 7 things and loved it all). This is my favorite of the 5 or so Indian places I've been to in Tokyo.
Also the lady serving me was super kind...
Read moreWhat an enjoyable experience we just had!! I felt a warm welcome from the moment we walked in. The door is a little tricky because the area you enter is on the other side but the woman there pressed the button to open it and welcomed us immediately. She took us over to the perfect spot in the corner and gave us menus. We ordered a good amount of things so don't judge. We did it for you... The regular naan is huuuuge and delicious looking. I ordered the cheesy naan and let's just say the cheese was cheesing 🧀!! It was really good and it was so cheesy and delicious. He ordered the Chicken Tikka. It came out sizzling and piping hot. It was really good and homeless just like I like. For food, we ordered the spinach chicken, butter chicken, and basmati rice. Everything was so flavorful and delicious! We will be coming back before we head back to the...
