Bad Review based on disappointing service experience, and it is really a great shame since it was the 2nd time we went after a great experience the week earlier.
Visited on June 4th (WED) between 19:00 and 19:45 for dinner. The place was packed, with one service staff and one chef in the kitchen.
Had the Pasta Carbonara and Gumbo Curry, which both arrived within 15 minutes. Service did their best despite the many guests.
The Carbonara was a solid 4/5. The Gumbo Curry was unfortunately way too salty, and so we asked the service in Japanese if there is anything we can do about the saltiness, as it made the dish impossible to enjoy. I am European and well used to salty food. This was too salty, no question about it.
Service went to the chef to inquire and came back for the first time. "We can not do anything to change the taste, as the dish has already been fully prepared. You could order more rice or salad. " Our response was to ask for maybe an additional slice of lemon.
After returning from the kitchen again: "Lemon would only make the saltiness stand out more. We can not do anything, please order more rice or salad, it is ¥300."
My Japanese partner was bewildered at this point, and we did not order any side dish. We quickly went to pay as I had finished the Carbonara.
It did not feel to us like the staff of tonight (must have been the decision of the chef) was interested in finding a better solution. Dish was not tried by the kitchen to check for complaint, no extra drink or item was offered, no discount when paying was applied. Am I expecting too much in Japan?
All in all, we were left with disappointment. The place is near our hotel for the whole week and I was looking forward to having the great salmon and funghi pasta or try their pizza at least one more time before leaving. We will try our luck at a...
Read moreWe stopped at a hotel nearby for an early flight from Haneda. We saw the Luce Italian restaurant as we wandered around looking for somewhere to eat. I’m so glad we did! The restaurant was full and they had to move tables to accommodate us. The menu was in Italian/English as well as Japanese and our delightful waitress also spoke English so was able to help us. We had a mozzarella and tomato salad, green salad and a tasty 3 meat pizza to share. We were also given a complementary apertizer of Japanese style dough balls and ratatouille. The desert was a delicious and beautifully presented Creme Brûlée. I had a couple of glasses of light fruity white wine and my husband had beer. The TV showed scenes from Rome, Firenze and Sienna which added to the ambience. The bill came to 5440 yen which was excellent. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend...
Read moreAsked for tap water but received bottled water. When we asked for just tap water (again) she removed the water and just never brought any water. There is only one waitress so it takes a while for the food to get there. We ordered an appetizer mid way through our entrées but it never arrived. And then when we asked for the bill, she just took off and another guy from the kitchen only came when he saw us get up from the table. They also just give you a very small appetizer which we assumed was on the house since we DID NOT ask for it, but they charged us 1200 yen for it! That is ridiculous. The food was okay, but the service...
