Overpriced, terrible service and incredibly small amount of food.
They asked each guest to order a course but they actually did not remember what course each of us were having so they delivered a dish to the wrong person instead of the person who should have that dish. We had no idea what dishes we should receive in our course as there was no one explaining this to us and the menu is very brief. Later when we found out the problem they did not even try to make up for it because they said there is a lack of materials. They had no willingness to offer any other compensation at all! We complained about it later and directly ask if they have any other compensation to our friend who did not receive her dish, as this is not our fault, they hesitated for a while and gave her 60 grams of pork as compensation.
My friend paid 23000 yen for her own course but the service and food were not worth it at all. I paid 13500 yen for my course and the only difference between our course is she will get a bit of crab meat and an extra mackerel sushi, which really shouldn not be worth of almost 10000yen. Overall the food amount is quite small, we had 3-4 small dishes before the meat, the meat we received was just a little potion of pork and beef, each is roughly less then 100g, so only few slices of meat. You could say it is because they use the high quality meat but is the price this incredible?
We had a bad time there. Their appointment slot is quite empty, I think the customers who did not come made a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI'm reading other reviews criticizing the price point and I'd like to acknowledge that for Japan, this restaurant is indeed priced on the higher end. That being said, I come from NYC where this kind of pricing is fairly typical.
Given the quality of the meats on offer, I give this place 5 stars all around. The waitress and waiter cook the vegetables for us and explain all the various veggies and what they are and where they come from. I loved this part of the experience because it helped me understand exactly where each produce came from (all "locally" sourced from within Japan!). The shabu shabu ended with a batch of udon, which was freshly made (there's flour covering the noodles). Each bite was very unique and they used ingredients I've never seen before such as an interesting seaweed/seagrape slimy plant that went with these teenie tiny tomatoes the size of cranberries.
Moreover, I went in with a group of 5, which is a huge group for Tokyo standards and were seated right away. It was a large uncrowded restaurant - a rare thing for Tokyo. I was worried initially, wondering why there were no other people dining here and then I realized that it wasn't the food that was the problem; it's that many people are priced out since there are much cheaper options. However, as Americans who appreciate a lot of room that can accommodate "big" groups, this restaurant is a good option.
The servers speak relatively good English and they were engaging and friendly. We enjoyed the experience...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent here with family and friends while on a trip to Japan. There were several positive aspects to the visit. The service was friendly but at times sarcastic. They did seat us 1.5 hours from closing time. The food itself was fine, if not a bit plain. Meat quality was good - Shabu that is cooked in a traditional boiling water pot, and you flavor the meat yourself. The staff was helpful in making recommendations on the flavoring and dressing up your sauces. The smoked fish appetizer was delicious. The views from the restaurant of Shibuya were amazing at night.
Several poor aspects though: We stayed until closing time, and felt very rushed to leave. They re-iterated several times that one course is required per person as to not share, or assumed we were trying to get away with spending less. It's also very expensive. We also felt pressured to leave a Google review at the end, this is in poor taste. When leaving, a family member requested to use the restroom and was rushed to the public one in the mall as if they couldn't get rid of us fast enough.
Would I come again? No. There's probably...
