Le Bouton — Restaurant in Tokyo

Le Bouton serves French and other European food. There's an English menu, but it seems to be an automatic translation from Japanese, which makes some descriptions hard to decipher.

My partner and I shared the following: —pâté à macaron (with a hint of salted caramel), —tripe and Lotus root in tomato sauce, —hachis parmentier, —duck confit, —sautéed cherries with vanilla ice cream.

All five dishes were pretty good, although nothing extraordinary for European standards. They were not entirely filling; we should have ordered at least one more.

What made our dinner unpleasant was the long wait time between dishes. Moreover, the check was intransparent. There were unannounced charges for bread and service. The drinks turned out to be expensive as well, e.g. ¥1,500 (about €10) for a juice. In total, we paid ¥16,000 (€105), which is out of line with the quality of the food...

Excellent french food. Small spot with only about 16 seats, half at the counter and half at two tables. Open kitchen so you see the chef prepare everything, for better or worse. Creative appetizers. Entrees are mostly meats and on the heavier side. Small selection...
