Maruichi Bagel is an absolute jewel in Tokyo and the world. Wether you are here to buy a bagel (or 12) or a sandwich, the quality is going to blow your mind. I've eaten here quite a few times, and I always end up wanting more.
What really sets this place apart from any other Bagel shop is the ingredients. I'd consider Maruichi more like a Bagel Lab than a "bakery" - the work that goes behind each of the ingredients (and I mean each) is beyond compare. Wether it's the home-made mustard, or the salt that's been carefully selected and imported from Italy, or the freshly baked dough of the bagels, each layer of a sandwich is worth writing a review about. Take no other options; don't even trust me not his one - go and try it for yourself and hit like on this review afterwards.
Thank you to Maruichi Bagel, every day I don't eat a sandwich from here is a day I miss them.

Read moreTokyo has a long history of bagel shops that come and go. Anyone remember Fox Bagels, the first real bagel shop in 23 wards way back when? Anyway OMG Maruichi is the real thing. And they are here. They claim inspiration from Manhattan’s legendary bagel shop “Ess A Bagel” and they have achieved that and more. The student has become the teacher. Wide variety of the bagels, for hard cores the rock salt bagel is a delicious artery buster while the honey fig will please veterans and newbies alike. This Bronx born reviewer is tempted to give Maruichi the title of “Best Bagel Japan” (and maybe Asia and maybe World) but I do have a soft spot for New York Club over in Azabujuban. So let’s call it a tie. Sorry Wise & Sons. I love you in SF but the Marunouchi shop is a distant...
Read moreı am in search for a NY style 🥯 and found this shop that offers their own unique twist — literally. They’re hand-twisted into beautiful shapes, giving them a distinctive look and texture.
One of the highlights for me was the germinated brown rice bagel. It’s not something you come across often, and it was surprisingly tasty — definitely more flavorful than the whole wheat option. I also tried a small plain bagel to get a sense of the base flavor, and it held up really well.
I also picked up a sesame bagel— I enjoyed it with watermelon and cheese, one of my favorite summer combos, especially with sesame bagels. Their sesame bagel was gooood 🤩.
The sandwiches you see in the photos are actually my own variaton, but the bagels themselves are from here — and they turned out great.
If you’re open to trying a creative, local twist on the traditional bagel, this place is worth...
