Staff were friendly, the lady that took my order also proactively helped me count and use the coins I had, to reduce that whole pocket of coins clinging. She also did her best through gestures and the photo menu, to make sure that she got my order right. To fellow tourists: make sure to read the japanese translated reviews. They are pretty hilarious in the sense that you are not sure if they are trolling when they praise the store but give 3 stars, or give 2 stars for the stairs being too steep (they are about the same as the stairs in most multi-story places like donki, but to be fair japan has a huge and increasing geriatric population with arthritis, and the stairs going into tokyo train stations are generally shallow so maybe they expected that to be somehow universal). It's heartwarming to see trolling alive and well even in japan's conservative society. This is a 24 hr place with lots of seats on 2nd and 3rd floors, charging ports, bathroom, several dinette type seating for parents with kids, and the whole place is generally clean and had a peaceful and warm vibe, def way cleaner than 24 hr places in America.
Teriyaki chicken sandwich was pretty much the normal McChicken in america, even with the mayo, and then with teriyaki sauce added. Def an interesting taste. They also had shrimp burger, and a few other japan specialty items. The soda cups are like 3/5 of american equivalents, so keep that in mind when you order extra food on the side. Also pay attention to paper/plastics when you throw stuff...
Read moreWorst McDonald's experience I've ever had and rate it zero stars if I could . Went on a rainy day on a Sunday morning alittle past ten. Ningyocho is abit of an office district so oen would assume it woudlnt be busy. The floor was slippery from all the deliveries and the tile floor , no customer service at all. The line for pick up and order was so confusing that I waited in the wrong line for the first minutes, then had to wait Inline for 20 minutes for the breakfast menu. Only to be told I couldn't order from the menu by being yelled by the manager. The lady at the cashier looked clueless and unable to make decisions of anything. Others were also annoyed at the managements poor inability to manage . After that waited, another 20 to get my order. The burger boy and the manager just kept making burgers despite 30 burgers in the cue. Why would you keep making items, burgers , let them get cold or the drinks watery , and then let them not be served ? The employees who seemed to start at 11 came in around 1050 and entered through the customer enterance and I couldn't tell if they were employees or family of the store or etc . It was all just confusing, disorganized and etc . Please have the McDonald's quality assurance have a talk with you please and get new management. You clearly don't know what a manager, customer service or headshift...
Read moreUpdate: the McDonald's app is unreliable and often stops accepting orders well before time. The manager was outright rude - rare for Japan.
And now they don't accept orders at the counter - you MUST use the machines, so cannot pay by cash. (Heads-up to tourists who may not have Japanese payment apps)
They always say the counter machines aren't working, which is clearly a lie. It's interesting that as they have increased prices 3 times in the last year, the level of service is going in the opposite direction and has never been worse.
I have been living in Ningyocho since 2013, and this "24-hour" McDonald's is so often closed by 12am!!
It's so annoying when you arrive at 00:10 to find it's...
