Went there as a solo traveller and ordered their premium lunch set. Very fresh produce and excellent value for money. Customer service was good for the brief amount of time spent. For would be visitors, do take note: 1) Bring cash along for the lunch sets. No credit cards accepted 2) With a smartphone and GPS, the building is easy to locate. Somewhere along Cat Street. However the exit is hidden at the end of a staircase at the 3rd level. There is no signage, except that it is next to the grocery store 3) Very limited seating, so no good for big groups. The local customers seem to know the importance of eating quickly and moving on. There are reminders to consume the sushi quickly (and not the smartphone screen) 4) For such an unassuming establishment, it has a lot of customers. Arrive early A no frills omakase restaurant, highly recommended!

This was the highlight of our trip to Japan! We found it online when were in the area, and it was a bit difficult to find at first. You’ll have to go up the stairs by the fruit market that’s downstairs. The staff was so incredibly sweet and the sushi was incredible. Everything was made so quickly and the place is small, but we didn’t have to wait long even when we went at the busiest hour (around noon). The vibe of the restaurant is very relaxing and authentic. My family and I ordered the large sushi meal, but we had a difficult time finishing the dish. I would recommend getting the small sushi platter. It also comes with green tea and miso soup. Also, this isn’t a super touristy spot if that’s what you are hoping to avoid. Highly recommend coming here if you are shopping around Cat street!

We were starving and wanted to have sushi for one of our last nights in Tokyo. We were in Harajuku and I searched for sushi on google maps. Saw the reviews for this place and began searching for it. It’s really hard to find. You’ve got to walk up to the third floor on a small stairway where there aren’t any signs, but boy am I glad we did! Even better there are only 10 seats and luckily they had space for the 4 of us. They asked if we wanted to order, but we let the chef create an omakase menus for us. That was the best move! We had some of the most amazing sushi and sashimi we’ve ever tasted. Highly recommended.

Sushi Sanaka, a hidden culinary gem, is a place where the pursuit of exceptional sushi takes center stage. Tucked away discreetly, finding the entrance may pose a bit of a challenge, but the journey is well worth the effort.

Upon locating the entrance, the experience unfolds seamlessly. Awaiting your turn, you'll be ushered in to take a seat, and the sushi adventure begins. While the chef may be a bit strict about phone usage, my experience revealed that this is a testament to the dedication to the culinary art. Once the unspoken rules are acknowledged, the atmosphere becomes pleasantly laid-back.

What truly sets Sushi Sanaka apart is the remarkable quality of the fish, all offered at a surprisingly good value. Each piece presented during the omakase experience is a culinary masterpiece, showcasing not only the freshness of the ingredients but also the chef's skillful technique.

Despite the initial challenge in finding the entrance and adhering to a few house rules, Sushi Sanaka creates an intimate setting that allows for a personalized and unforgettable dining experience. The chef's precision and passion are evident in every bite, making this establishment a must-try for sushi enthusiasts.

In summary, Sushi Sanaka offers an unparalleled sushi experience at an excellent value. For those willing to seek out hidden culinary treasures and appreciate the artistry behind each dish, Sushi Sanaka is a destination that promises both mystery and delight. I eagerly look forward to returning for another round of this extraordinary...

I never have such poor experience. Noted it takes time to get seats. I and my husband are willing to wait. We have waited for more than half an hour for lunch but still not yet have seats. So I went to find toilet nearby and the toilet in the shopping center is far away to this restaurant. The staff asked my husband how many people we have but didn’t tell we have to line up together. My husband called me to come back as we are nearly the next. I have backed to this restaurant before they offered us seats. However, the staff rejected to give us seats and requested us to line up again and her attitude is very rude. She seems not welcome foreigners or have some race discrimination. It’s very so disappointing and ridiculous. I think service is the first other than the food quality. But this restaurant doesn’t provide the basic services to customers. If you want to take meals at this restaurant, you must consider if it’s worth to...

Wonderful sushi restaurant that we found just searching on Google! They only have the Japanese name online, but they are called Sanaka Sushi in English! It’s located above a little vegetable shop and you need to take stairs to reach it. We went for lunch just before 1.30pm and there was already a line but it was short. It’s a quaint sushi bar with less than 12 seats and one small private room, which we were seated in within 35 minutes. The ladies manning the store were super friendly and there is an English menu as well.

We ordered their ‘recommended’ set and it was delicious! You get about 12 fresh sushi and 6 little sushi rolls with miso soup and Ocha- about 1800 yen per person but they also have other options like a larger sushi plate or chirashi bowls. It was incredibly fresh and great value for the quality you get. Will definitely visit again when we’re back in Tokyo!

Thank you for the friendly service,...
