I was considering giving this place 5 stars only for the takeaway option at the front : you want a cheap , fulfilling bowl of meat , rice and some side fried food ? This is exactly what you get.
The bento was cheap, hot, ready to take and absolutely delicious, charcoal grilled meat adds a quite flavor to the bento and takes the whole thing to another level.
Add to that a couple of fried items “à la carte" and you get yourself a nice treat with pretty much no waiting time.
But this is not a bento restaurant, so I decided to come back and try to sit down for a meal.
Expectations met : food was indeed delicious, they provided an English menu when they saw me confused in front of the regular menu, staff is friendly and very enthusiastic.
You trade the fully charcoal grill flavored bento with a freshly cut and cooked meat by ordering inside.
Even the fried side dish was hot and felt like it was fried on demand.
The atmosphere was quite nice, a relaxing music with the usual kitchen noise from the staff in the back preparing food and welcoming customers.
Only negative aspect is the lack of visibility of the English menu on the outside, the writing in Japanese is not easily deciphered by translation apps and it might feel unwelcoming but don’t let it intimidate you and...
Read moreNiku no Yamaki is a restaurant specialized in grilled beef rice bowls and croquettes. They serve nice meat rice bowls in three different types (yakiniku dare don - with tare sauce; Koku umadare don - with special tare sauce; oroshi ponzu don - with radish and ponzu sauce), and also three sizes, from 100g, 150g and 200g meat. I had the 150g (¥858) and it was well enough. The meat was tender and the sauce is delicious. It’s pricier than the average donburi but they put Matsuya and...

Delicious and cheap. Service was good, and there are pitchers of water on the tables. You buy a ticket from the machine outside, and give it to your server. No English menu. I had to figure out what I wanted from pictures and a little help from...
