Stayed for 4 nights in December 2023, and chose the plan option with housekeeping every 3 nights (so I ended up having my room cleaned on my last day). I received a single room on the top (5th) floor of the hotel. I booked 2 months in advance via my credit card (Chase) travel portal and had no issues with the reservation.
As a solo traveler looking to sleep somewhere on a budget near Akihabara, this worked well for me. I would consider staying here again for short (less than 1 week) stays.
Pros: Cheap, in total it was less than $67/night for me. Around a 5 minute walk from Asakusabashi Station, which is 1 stop from Akihabara. Convenience stores nearby: Family Mart right next to the station, and a 7-11 across the street. There's also a vending machine just outside the hotel, though it sadly did not have any water options (if I remember correctly, it had coffee, tea, and corn soup). Lots of amenities: in addition to pretty much everything you need for washing up, you also get a robe and slippers, a water boiler with instant coffee and tea sachets, and a mini fridge. Room looked clean and I didn't find anything out of place when I arrived. The shower pressure was superb. Bed was comfortable and warm. There are 2 outlets on the desk and 2 next to the bed. Plenty of space to stash your stuff, from the area at the end of your bed under the TV to the large shelf behind your bed (I used it to lay out my clothes and personal hygiene items). Plenty of lighting options: you can turn lights on/off at the entrance, and next to the bed (good for when you don't want to get out of bed). The bed light also has a sliding knob so you can dim the lights. Lots of mirrors: full length mirror at the door, horizontally wide mirror in the washroom, and a small mirror above the desk (which also has a light over it, if you're working at the desk). Front desk staff was friendly and helpful!
Cons: Since it's so close to the station, you can hear the trains running outside your window. If you're a moderate to heavy sleeper (or used to city/transit sounds in general), it's bearable. If you're a light sleeper, however, you may be woken up early in the morning and won't get any quiet until past midnight unless you bring earplugs. For those who need to get packages delivered to the hotel, they charge 500 yen per day of storage if the package arrives before you check in. Make sure to sign for your package and keep the receipt. If the package arrives while you're staying at the hotel, they'll leave a note at your door saying that you should contact the front desk to pick it up. The room and bed are both very small, but if you're a smaller-sized traveler and don't mind, then it shouldn't be a problem. Heating system is centralized so you can't control the temperature of the room except by opening the window. Even in December, Tokyo tends to be quite warm (and that's by my standards as a California native). You have a physical key to your room, and there's a keychain attached to it that's a long plastic oval with your room number. It's way bigger than it needs to be and therefore takes up unnecessary room in whatever day bag you're using. Also, when you're getting out of your room, you need to turn the lock and hold it before you touch the door handle. It's a hassle when you're dealing with luggage. You only get 2 coat hangers - but maybe they'll give you more if you ask? You only get 1 bottle of water. 1 ply toilet paper, for those who care. The toilet is of course a bidet, like every other toilet in Japan, so this probably doesn't matter too much. But speaking of the bidet, I couldn't find a move option for the nozzle... Very tiny TV, though I assume you don't care about this if you're booking a stay here. Amenities don't include lotion, but if you didn't bring your own you could probably just grab some at a convenience store. Trash can is very small, and you'll be told to take out your trash at a room they'll show you in the ground floor. Wasn't a problem for me, but just...
Read moreWe stayed here overnight, somewhat as a precursor of our BNB. This hotel is basic and would be what you need:||||Quiet property||3 mins walk from nearest JR||2 mins walk from nearest subway||2 mins from main road with convenience stores and shops||||The hotel is situated by the Asakusabashi Station. If you're coming from Tokyo, you'd need to go take the Yamanote 1 station to Akihabara (green line), then transfer to the Sobu Line (yellow line) 1 station. The great thing about this property is that once you ride the Sobu, you're 1 station away from the Yamanote Line Loop which goes around Tokyo easily. Remember that the stations have elevators and escalators if you're carrying luggage. It's easy to read maps of platforms without learning english as they are all images so just find the graphic of the escalator or elevator whenever possible.||||The room is minimal and basic too. Enough room to maybe lay flat 1 luggage which will kind of obstruct the walkway a bit but doable. If you're carrying 3 luggages or more, it might be a challenge. The bed is comfy. The room we got faced the wall of another building about 3meters away, but that's okay as it didn't really affect us. Wifi is good. Didn't know if they had breakfast but there's free coffee til 11am at the lobby. Lobby is small though so after you checkout at 10am, you can opt to still stay a bit but it might be crowded if other people do so too. Other hotels permit late checkouts, but this one would charge you 1000JPY for every 30mins. Love the bed, it was comfy I had a great sleep.||||One weird thing about this is how the receptionist reminded me to leave the key whenever I go out. I've experienced this before in another hotel and while I trust Japan, this is something don't get. I ended up forgetting about leaving the key anyway. Plus we got back 3am and there's nobody in the reception so I don't know how that could've worked out.||||The area of this property is quiet. At around 9-10pm establishments close down if you're expecting some kind of night activity, this might not be ideal for you as it is located on the very opposite of the happening areas at night such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Roppongi. So if you plan on staying out too late, note of the train operating hours because a cab ride from Shibuya to hear would be around JPY5,000 to give you an idea.||||However, if you want to geek out, this is ideal being next to Akihabara's Electric City where you can find lots of anime, manga, and electronic related shops - one of which is directly across Akihabara Station (Yamanote), which is 1 station away.||||I got this hotel on short notice and it might be a bit more cheaper during normal seasons. So for its overall value for what I paid I'm giving it 3stars.||||If you see this hotel being on the cheap side for your stay, get it. It's sufficiently basic and would be of good value. However if it's practically priced the same as most hotels with a more central location, you might want to consider those too. Nevertheless, our stay was...
Read moreFirst, what time you're coming and going determines the language best-suited for speaking. At night, Japanese is best. During the day, I was able to use English, Mandarin, and Japanese all with success. ||||The room had Internet & it worked well. There was no lag or outage; streaming worked. I got sick on my third day and had to stay in most of the day, so it was good to have something to do during the awake times!||||I'm not a giant person (172cm), so the bed and bathroom were perfectly fine for me. The water ran hot and cold with no wait time.||||A/C functioned well & you can open the window to let in that Tokyo air.||||I suggest trying to get an upper floor, mainly because the lobby can be loud.||||If you arrive early like I did (4am!), you can take your bags to the check-in desk and leave them there while you wander the streets. I came back before the normal check-in time and the desk clerk inquired as to whether the room I was to stay in had been cleaned yet or not. Since it had, I was able to check in a few hours early & go on my way!||||If convenience is your thing, there are convenience stores a few minutes' walk away, but also some vending machines outside for minimal effort.||||Finally, the hotel is located quite close to a station, so I cannot emphasize the convenience of this place enough. Couple with the location being extremely quiet, it was the perfect place for a traveler like me, where I value quiet over most everything else.||||I would definitely consider...
