Ootoya Gohansho Shinagawa Grand Passage — Restaurant in Tokyo

We had our last lunch in Tokyo here before heading out to Haneda Airport and ordered two meal sets i.e. the pork & meatball with black vinegar sauce set AND the beef teppanyaki set. We also ordered a few side dishes like spinach with sesame sauce (gomae), mini fried chicken (kara-age), and mini tonkatsu cutlets. The best thing of ordering in the restaurant is you can tailor the portion of your rice and they will adjust the prices charged. You can order with English option when you use the QR code on the ordering site with your mobile phone.

We spent total of ¥ 3,900 for the above lunch orders, and we think it was quite good value for your money. Taste wise, it was just average which is a bit disappointing considering I tried better Ootoya dishes in their overseas branch. Customer service was good as usual in Japan and you can pay with V/MC payment cards. The location in busy office blocks meant that it will be busy during lunch / dinner hours with office workers, but we could get seat when we arrived...

ここの大戸屋を利用する際は、注文した料理が給仕される以外にスタッフと接する機会はほぼ皆無と思った方がいいでしょう。同時に、タッチパネル式デバイスを使用した注文、客が自分自身で行う専用のシステムを使用した会計の使い方が分からない、あるいは使用に抵抗を感じる人の利用はお勧めしません。勿論、スタッフが使い方をサポートする体制は整っていると思いますが、スタッフは一様に忙しなく、呼んでもすぐにサポートに来ないことがしばしばあります。 このような状況だからかは不明ですが、一部のスタッフは小さい声で接客し、何を言っているのか分からない時があります。スタッフの接客の質はあまり期待しない方がいいでしょう。 一方で給仕される料理やドリンクの質は、他の大戸屋と遜色無く、同時に、スタッフの接客対応の質は問わず、注文した料理の給仕のスピードも特に不満と感じる点はありませんでした。

You should not expect much in the way of quality of customer service from the staff. On the other hand, the quality of the dishes and drinks served is comparable to other Ootoya restaurants. I should compliment the menu, there were available in English language and it also has options for less calorie menu.
