Situated in the historic Naniwa Sennichimae district, Otafuku stands as a timeless beacon of culinary excellence. Steeped in tradition since its establishment in 1912 as Asakusa Oden Otafuku, this revered establishment has weathered the storms of time, preserving its legacy with unwavering dedication.
During our recent visit, my wife and I were fortunate to sample the remnants of their winter seasonal menu, an experience that left an indelible mark on our palates. The Oden, a masterpiece of simplicity and sophistication, featured an array of ingredients including taro, radish, shiitake mushrooms, and more, all simmered to perfection in a rich broth. The Crab kamaboko oden, a standout from the seasonal offerings, delighted with its exquisite flavor and delicate texture.
In addition to the culinary delights, the restaurant's rich history adds an extra layer of charm to the dining experience. As descendants of generations past continue the tradition, there's a sense of continuity and reverence that permeates every aspect of Otafuku.
With each bite, it's evident that Otafuku isn't just a restaurant—it's a living testament to the enduring power of culinary craftsmanship and familial legacy. As we departed, we couldn't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude for the opportunity to partake in this time-honored tradition. Otafuku has earned not only our patronage but also our heartfelt admiration...

Solid oden shop, but a bit pricy. Overall very delicious and I would return in the winter.
FOOD 4 We ordered the 2,800/person deal times 3 people. We received a pot filled with boiled daikon, carrot, konnyaku, egg, rolled cabbage, ganmo doki, tofu, etc. Some pieces I could cut with the ladle so we could all share and taste a little bit, because otherwise, we’d get full eating en entire triangle of konnyaku. The 110 year old soup recipe is very yummy. Gyuudon with stewed beef was excellent.
SERVICE 4 We were seated in a private room on the 2nd floor. Decent service. Our waiter seemed inexperienced and spilled a dish of pickles (he didn’t know what to do), but otherwise, no major issues.
ATMOSPHERE 4 The downstairs is filled with decorations, and the spout on the handwashing sink...

The broth taste is incredible, you can taste hundreds of ingredients that went into the soup. Their English menu was also great, it had explanations of the traditional dishes and was well written. On top of this the staff was very nice and helpful. We had a great experience here and would recommend Otafuku restaurant to anyone who wants to try oden or just traditional Japanese food in general. And don't forget to try their sake, it was the best we...
