This place like playing jazz LOUD! Real loud! If you like this way, it’s a heaven! It happens I like this🤪 This place shows an interesting compromise approach to speaker placement often seen in jazz kissa in Japan. First of all it’s a very long room. The owner set up a drum set and piano at one end of the long room so they can have live performance. The owner then set up the speakers in the middle of the long room, with both speakers close to each other. This isn’t what many audiophiles will do since they tend to place speakers far apart to achieve a bigger soundstage. But in Japan, it’s quite common to save space. This approach will present many instruments in the recordings very close together, and if you sit close and facing the speakers like I did, you will be like, listening to a gigantic headphone but of course way much a better immersive experience. Since the speakers are placed at the long side, there is no sidewall reflection issues. So its strength is focusing on reproducing the timbres of instruments up front. I enjoyed this approach for two hours! You can however sit not in front of the speakers and the music would be less loud but you listen to the room more than direct sound from the speakers. Anyway a very unique place!

One of my favorite experiences in Tokyo. Spent two hours on a Saturday afternoon listening to the incredible vinyl jazz collection and wonderful sound from Sunvalley equipment and having a couple of beers. Laid back, comfortable and friendly.

The owners’ love for jazz is an understatement. His warm welcome for guest requests and enthusiasm when asked to share his favorites are authenticity at its purest.

How delightful it is to share a genuine exchange with a stranger over music.

Will certainly return again.

Life really is...
