When my husband and I entered the restaurant, we were confused and tired and desperately needed food. We talked to one of the chefs as we sat at the counter and since our Japanese language ability is not great, it quickly became not a good experience. Normally, we can speak Japanese to some extent but since the chef became unfriendly, we felt anxious and lost the ability to confidently access our ability to speak the correct words. I’m not exactly sure what it was that made everything go down hill but at one point through out the meal, he glared at me and I felt so unwelcomed there. As a visitor, I felt so alienated and left the restaurant crying and furious. I will never come back.
For the food, it’s your average chuka place with a busy atmosphere as the patrons were mostly Japanese working people. Some tourists. Not a huge place.

Read moreI was curious about this Chinese restaurant because its lights were always on, even late at night. Feeling a bit hungry, I decided to go in and order fried rice (chāhan) and gyoza. The reason it was so crowded, even in the early morning, was that all the customers had just come from the clubs. Listening to their conversations was quite interesting. The fried rice and gyoza were surprisingly tasty too. However, all the staff were very busy. After looking it up, I saw that the tanmen was highly recommended, so next time I'm hungry late at night, I'll have to try...
Read moreForeign tourists who do not speak Japanese should not go there. This restaurant is a cheap, traditional Chinese restaurant. However, there is no system to guide customers to their seats, and customers themselves need to figure out the timing and ask the waiter. The clerk is not Japanese, so I am not sure if he/she speaks English as well as Japanese. You may feel uncomfortable with their somewhat high-pressure attitude.
There are also Chinese chain restaurants in Shibuya, where you can enjoy cheap Japanese Chinese food.
