Saray Akasaka is a Turkish restaurant in Akasaka (it seems there is also another restaurant in Shinjuku). The ambiance is about what one would expect, traditional-esque, small interior in a downstairs restaurant. We ordered Turkish bread, Iskender kebab, chicken shish kebab, hummus, and Turkish meat and cheese pizza. Overall, everything was decent, although the hummus was pretty mediocre, and if I have any criticism I would say the food could have been fresher. Service was good, the waiter was very friendly, and while in typical Japanese restaurant you had to call the server to get their attention, he did come running every time (and to be fair he was staffing the dining room by himself). I came here during lunch on a Friday. There was a line to go inside but surprisingly, I was able to go inside within 5 minutes.
I have eaten kebabs a good amount of times in Japan and there are a lot of hit and miss restaurants.
Let me tell you, this restaurant is a hit. I opted for the "mixed beef and chicken" kebab dish.
