Tokyo's Best Kept Secret Restaurant!

Tokyo's Best Kept Secret Restaurant!

excellent small dishes and deeply underrated place. i can guarantee this restaurant would have gone viral where i'm from. love their modern interpretation of quintessential japanese dishes, such as perfectly and neatly cut okonomiyaki, nicely seasoned octopus (juxtaposed with sea grapes), even the chicken tsukune was updated with minced chicken meat mixed with glutinous rice with a caramelised miso paste slathered over. i've had cream cheese pickles elsewhere so it's not new but still a competent accompaniment. i also love the lotus with prawn paste (somewhat like a menbosha prawn toast) as well as their freshly made red bean dorayaki whose sweetness is cleverly given a fresh lift with slices of pineapple also sandwiched within. who would have thought we can tempura figs and it would end up like fried lil bombs of fig jam?! service is careful and discreet. the restaurant was not busy but staff kept bustling around and made sure our needs are well tended to.

Amazing place! When I visited Tokyo, my friends and I had dinner at Shikaku. Two of us ordered the dinner course, while the other two chose from the regular memu. Although the portions were small, each dish was packed with flavor and featured unique, high-quality ingredients. If you're looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience, I highly recommend this restaurant! Dinner course: 1. Appetizer 2. Octopus Carpaccio (sea grapes) 3. Deep fried Ham 4. Gilled Beef Skewers 5. Miso marinated Cod 6. Fried fish 7. Rice & Miso 8. Pancake Dorayaki Regular memu: Okonomiyaki, Octopus Carpaccio, Tomato Salad, Celery potato salad, Hamburg steak, Fried fish, Edamame(not frozen 👍) ..etc Drink: Sake, Ginger and Japanese Citrus "Kabosu" wine, Shochu

From the minute we stepped in we felt very welcome and the atmosphere was spot on. We were a bit tired after a long great day in Tokyo and this place was just what we needed. The staff were attentive and kind, the pace was great and the food was excellent especially the unagi steamed rice and...
