excellent small dishes and deeply underrated place. i can guarantee this restaurant would have gone viral where i'm from.
love their modern interpretation of quintessential japanese dishes, such as perfectly and neatly cut okonomiyaki, nicely seasoned octopus (juxtaposed with sea grapes), even the chicken tsukune was updated with minced chicken meat mixed with glutinous rice with a caramelised miso paste slathered over. i've had cream cheese pickles elsewhere so it's not new but still a competent accompaniment. i also love the lotus with prawn paste (somewhat like a menbosha prawn toast) as well as their freshly made red bean dorayaki whose sweetness is cleverly given a fresh lift with slices of pineapple also sandwiched within. who would have thought we can tempura figs and it would end up like fried lil bombs of fig jam?!

Although the portions were small, each dish was packed with flavor and featured unique, high-quality ingredients. If you're looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience, I highly recommend this restaurant!
