Very warm staff that welcomes you to the table. Service was prompt.

I strong recommend people to try their cabbage soup. Super creamy and thick like those campbell can soup (in terms of texture comparison). The soup is sweet with a bit of savoury in it. The cabbage wraps around the meat with it.

My son tried the beef in sauce, which we find the sauce too overwhelming. A mistake he made was to pour everything in like how he eats his curry rice. My suggestion for non locals is to pour some and try out first. So if you feel it is overwhelming, you will still be able to finish the plate by controlling how much sauce you need.

If I were to try again, I'll go for double cabbage instead. This is a MUST eat...

The place was surprisingly popular for a hole in the wall restaurant, there was already a small line inside when I got there, but I only had to wait 5 minutes to get in though so it was fine. The cabbage roll was piping hot and the thickness of the soup was nice, the curry was alright, the jazzy music and cafe type of atmosphere was quite relaxing, though I felt like I had to leave soon since there were people waiting. They also had some kind of vinegar sauce and demi-glace sauce for you to use. I especially liked the demi-glace sauce. Overall a unique place to enjoy some alone time. Would be better if it weren't so crowded though. Took some interior pictures but somehow turned...

This place has been around since the 60’s and I guess, for good reason. Had a craving for retro flavours and went to try their famous cabbage rolls. I ended up getting the dish which included a portion of spicy chicken curry — it was absolute perfection. The cabbage roll felt like a big hug, the sauce was light and paired well with the rice, while the chicken curry gave the dish a bit of a kick.

Bonus points for the cute plate it was served on. Service is no frills, super speedy. At 3pm on a weekday, there was a short line to get in with 5-6 tables ahead but it moved fast and I was seated within...

We came here for the cabbage rolls and they didn't disappoint! It was a rainy day in Shinjuku and this was exactly what we needed. I wish the quality of pork had been better but that's the only issue I had with the dish. The Omburi on the other hand was disappointing because I was hoping the omelette would open up into a soft scramble, as is typical with this type of omelette, but it didn't. The omelette itself was nice and thin but the rice didn't have much flavor so I'd recommend passing on this dish. The pork katsu was crispy and well done! Would definitely go back for the cabbage roll and katsu.
